Hughes looked pretty damn good that last inning. Read he has hit 94 on the gun too. The kids in the 3rd didn't have a chance though.

yeah, I saw 94. I only saw half an inning so far but it was impressive, ground out, fly out, 3 pitch strikeout.

this is what a real division looks like....unlike the nl east ....with 1 good team

Atlanta Braves: 46-35, .568, 5th best record in baseball behind Phillies, Yanks, Sox, Giants. I would say 2 good teams. And the Braves are putting a beating on the AL lately.

Edit: they are 7-4 vs. AL.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story though.

The Braves are a pretty good team, but you really can't try and compare the AL East to the NL East, can you?

Just saying that there are 2 good teams in the NL East - as opposed to the one that Neily said. He's just wrong, as usual. Obviously 3 very strong teams make the AL East a tougher division than the NL East, or any other division. We're on the same page Cliffy.

As for the Braves being good because they're in the AL, their winning pct vs. the AL is better than vs. the NL. Just the facts is all. And yes, they still do have Dan Uggla on their team.

Is Uggla really hitting .177? I didn't realize it was that bad.

Another quick inning, nasty curve to end it. Faced the minimum so far.

He's historically bad this year. I think he might have a HR off Halladay too, somehow. (maybe Lee, I don't know)

Love the play-by-play on Phil Hughes rehab start - you guys are as obsessed as us.

Yeah, man. That is insanely bad. Now, that's a bad contract.

They are a really good organization that is somewhat budget-oriented. So I don't know where that came from. Didn't they see him hit .070 off Jaime Moyer for 5 years?

Yeah, man. that is bizarre. They gave up a good haul for him too, right?

Hughes in a little bit of trouble here. Got 2 quick outs, one hit hard and a really nice catch, then gave up a hit and a walk.

Got out of it with another good curve and a good fastball.

6 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits (I believe) and 1 walk. Struck out Anthony Gose (part of the Roy Halladay deal) with a fastball to end the 6th. Would imagine that is probably it for him but that was all types of encouraging. Kind of nice to see swings and misses even if its just in double a.

5 yrs, $62M. He's clearly a better offensive player than what he's shown so far this year, but not that good.

Hughes came back in. 6.1 innings. 3 hits, 2 walks. Got into a little bit of trouble in the 7th. Gave up a hit that should have been caught then walked a guy. Good news though.

    Final Line: 6.1 innings, 1 run, 3 hits, 2 walks, 8 strikeouts

Colon may be ready to go this weekend and they may not have hughes make another rehab start after today. Jeter sounds like he will be back next week
