Woah, that was cool. Loved the way it creeps down (is that deliberate?) Kinda reminds me of peering at pictures of scantily clad ladies back in the early days of the web (eek!)
I think this was just a good excuse for you to show off your muscular tonearm though wasn't it? Go on, admit it!

Is that "Black Gives Way to Blue?" If so, is that the standard pressing, or a limited edition? If that's the way it comes I am heading over to Amazon now and ordering it. I opted to get the re-issue of Axis:Bold As Love instead a while back.
9. $3,275 - Pearl Jam, Backspacer LP. This white vinyl version of Pearl Jam's latest release drew more than 60 bids before it ultimately sold. Beyond that - no real details from the seller.
Did anybody win one of theses from the Just Breathe contest?

Yes, it is Black gives way to blue, it comes clear vinyl, 180 gram w/cd.
Just made the fatal error of trying to 'upgrade' my favourite Cure album - Disintegration to the 2010 remaster (by Bob Smith himself). Should have taken heed of the tell-tale warning sticker 'Digital Remaster'. This is an album which is made for vinyl - with its warmth, depth and beautiful harmonics - which is why I went to the trouble of tracking it down on ebay some time ago - found a neat copy for £8 plus £2 postage, I think (is scarce and out of print).
Only made it to track 2 (Pictures of You) on this version, before I thought - 'this is horrible' - fresh out the packet; yet had that kind of 'scratchy' metallic tone you often get with digital, couldn't make it to the end of the song without wincing. Went back to the original to check I wasn't imagining it, and immediately gave a sigh of relief to hear an actual human voice and musical guitars. I, and it felt much much calmer too.
The remaster is split into 2 discs, which sometimes works, but is often a right royal pain in the ass - is louder, and is a gatefold, and it cost me £20. Overall a crisp and clear train-wreck of a remaster I fear (am loathe to give it a second chance but I probably will)
Given that my 1989 version is almost mint and sounds superb, the only thing stopping me taking this straight back to the shop is that it might serve as a good 'demo' disc to warn of the perils of digitally remastering already sterling records, (and also as a fallback).
The CD remastered version is probably gonna an improvement on what was (know nothing about this), but this is just LOUD, with a rumbling bassline which doesn't really go anywhere at all - awful.
My advice to vinyl lovers is to BUY THIS RECORD, but get yourself a decent copy of the 1989 version. It's a fabulous sounding loveforesaken heartbreak record. The front cover of the 2010 edition says 'includes lyrics sleeves' and '180gm') - but my original included lyrics too and plays brilliantly!! Arrrgh [edit - more complete lyrics here and nice sleeves - an expensive coffee table item then!!]
Yours frustratedly
t
[PS - 2nd listen - in its favour the remaster is bolder, quite expansive with the music (sweeping majestic kinda thing) and has clearer vocals - so ultimately a different listen. However, the rich swampiness of the original with half-heard lyrics was a lot of its strength! Buy every version immediately but make sure it includes the 89 classic on vinyl!!]
pps - think this version has 2 extra final tracks that are missing from the og vinyl - both of which I love to bits (I tend to get a bit confused with albums I have on multiple formats - and the og vinyl is so good I may not make it beyond side 1 all that often!!)

You've picked up some very nice stuff there Tremors.
Particularly like the Tugboat! Where did you find that?
Bought that when it came out from HMV in the North of England - they had a few in stock by default!! Those were the days....
Most of my PJ stuff I picked up at the time, and have got a few extras to fill in some gaps. Biggest regret was straying away from the vinyl between c. 2002 to 2006-ish!! (Really should have got a copy of Lost Dogs and Benaroya!!) Still, you live and learn, live and learn!!

some review from some download forum (corrected):
CAST - MAGIC HOUR (1999)
Third album by this British band. They were never as successful as Oasis, but they were clearly more refined, inventive and ready
to change. The music of this album proves it has the capacity to defeat time and genres. One of the most underrated albums of the 90's.
Indeed! Guitar lovers - try following Skin, word lovers - try following john power
music & life lovers - follow both!!

This thread is great, I just found a sealed copy of Pearl Jam Vs. at a local record shop in DC. I mostly collect Metallica and Pearl Jam stuff so this was a HUGE find. Anyone else come across long lost and sealed PJ stuff?
Also, does anyone know the specifics on the Vinyls included in the Ten collectors edition? Is the Ten and Drop in the Park LPS both on 180gram?
