i honestly wonder if the band has any inkling about how their fans are being treated.

i love pearl jam. i love their music. i love seeing them live. but, i've got to say that the ten club has tainted that experience for me.

the fact that they give us less than 4 days to plan which shows they can go to...and to figure out how to pay for them. i dont have a limitless credit card, as i am sure others dont. if you really think that they dont know exactly how much their fanclub tickets are, you are insane. they have to program the website for it. dont you think that is already done? in the past, we got ticket prices...as well as fair notice of tours....

if you think kissing the ten club's a$% makes you a better fan than those who demand a fan club that truly represents the band that they love, you are delusional.

    dead on.

I have no problem with the fast ticket sales, but I have that luxury. I know most/many dont.

I think everything the band still pays attention to, like seniority, ticket availability, bootlegs (to some extent) and the xmas single have remained, while the rest, like customer treatment and the way info gets out has gone to shit.

its not about comparing this fan club/management to others, its about comparing to what it once was. like i said before, its unfortunate.

Two months time is short notice. Honestly. Most bands annouce their tours a good 6 months beforehand, once the arrangements are finalised because that's normally how far in advance large tours need to be booked. No way they don't know the ticket prices yet. That's just unfeasible.

Amen to that! Over the years, the 10c has really SUNK!!!!!!!! It's now pretty much worthless.
You find out less than a week before tix go on sale, not leaving a lot of time to plan. News about the band can be found on other sites all the time. I could go on for days but won't.

They 10c is piss poorly run. Back in the day it was the chit as they say. Now?? Pathetic!

hasn't pearl jam always been about having LOWER than average ticket prices?????

I think they were being modest actually with that response. 60 bucks for a band of their stature for seats in the very front for Mansfield is below the average for bands who have the creds that they do.

I forgot that everything in here is a debate.

The ten club usually lets the fans know last, after radio and magazines and ticketmaster, people are always bithching.
This tour was put togehter fast, you really think that they know the amounts, in all arenas, or just how cheap they are negotiating for the club.
    Like they are holding out.

If you don't make note of an issue, how will you ever get what you want? I think the ticket prices are high (yes, I will still be paying for them), and I'm not quite sure why.

what are these september dates you speak so fondly of???????

i got "permission" from my wife to be able to go to the US next time there is a tour and hopefully go a few shows and now they go and announce one which starts ON my birthday, and my wife and i already had the time booked off work, its fate that i go ISN'T IT?????

BUT (and it's quite large but) it is gonna cost quite a substantial amount of money, like £1500 for 10 days in orlando, plus tickets plus spends plus car hire. Is it "really" worth it i ask myself or should i wait til the next euro dates?

i voiced these concerns to my wife and said "even if we do go, next time they play europe i will want/need to go to a few of those aswell" she said she knows and just accepts my PJ tour affliction!! :D

PJ are strongly rumoured for Austin City Limits which is 26-28 September. There is also a Dallas date that's been kicked about. I'd assume there'd be a handful of other shows that month as well. At this point I'd rather plan and save for that, should it happen. If STP also should happen to play ACL I will have to be there, but that's just wishful thinking at this point. I think someone here said the lineup is annouced 15 April.

while I don't have any major gripe with 10c I need to deposit money into my account and as a student with limited funds I can't just jump to buy. Also there could've been a more reasonable response rather then a condescending one sentence answer.
'06- Irving Plaza (What a way to see my first PJ concert), Albany, Hartford, Camden I & II, East Rutherford I & II, Pittsburgh

    '07- THE VIC!!!, Lollapalooza (Chicago)

I dont think anyone in this thread expects Pearl Jam to cater to their specific needs. All i was trying to point out is that ticket increases are not relative to fuel prices or the cost of living like some people claim.

Remember that this band used to be about "the fans" by keeping ticket prices low.

Can i afford to pay $70 for a ticket? Sure, but am I not alowed to question why ticket prices have increased significantly over the years?

I just think it is funny that people on this board go bezerk over gas companies making buckets of money but someone questions the cost of Pearl Jam tickets & they get labeled a "complainer", "pearl jam doesnt cater to you" & so on. If you ask me it is hypocritical.

Concert prices are out of control! This is the one and only band that I would pay over $50 for sure.
That being said there is no reason why they can't give us the heads up as to how much these are going to run.

you think you're entitled to any and every kind of product or info just because you paid the tiny $20 fan club fee. yes, the price for it is small, regardless of what $$$ you make a year. you've had a good idea for a while that pj would announce some dates this summer. you should already know about what to expect in regards to ticket prices. if you don't, READ and you will find it. if people say $50-75 per ticket, then overcompensate for $90 per ticket just in case! if you can't do that, well then figure something out! you ever think to realize the amount of stress the people who work for 10C are under right now too? you're not alone, sorry. the world doesn't revolve around you. their reply may not have been the most tactful, but it's not fair for you to expect info that they didn't already disclose with the other 10C members. not to mention making a thread about it revealing what they said! this isn't about kissin 10C's ass, it's about the rediculous level to which people feel entitled around here. you wanted a tour, they gave you one! now you want something else to bitch about?! go outside or something.

I don;t see how it is hypocritical at all. Where do the gas companies etc. (ie "BIG Business") get their money from? US. How do they do it? Directly( At the pump or wherever the commodity is purchased) AND indirectly ( higher gas prices mean we have to pay more to ship stuff and that cost is passed on to the consumer). People are allowed to voice their disagreement with these huge companies making huge profits ESPECIALLY when it impacts how much we have to pay to see a show. I think Pearl Jam's "take" from any given show has remained relatively consistent since the days of $20 tix. Getting them and their crew and their gear to the gig and also trying to have as little impact on the environment as possible is the real reason prices have escalated so rapidly, IMHO. The real problem is with the way wealth is distributed.

You have got to be kidding.
Ths mini tour was obviously just finalized, based on the delay from Wed to Thur for the announcement, they had issues they were still working out.
The fan club sales have to go before regular on sales. They have to do the 10club sales next week to accomplish this.
When Ticketmaster announces the sale of tix for a show, how much time do you have before the sale?
Its usually 2-4 days...most shows get announced mid week and tix go on sale for a vast majority on Saturdays.
4 days is plenty to decide on a local show, for most it is a 30 second decision. The only issue might be for travellers...but the decision to go can be made and that leaves 2-3 months to work out travel arrangements.

Not everyone is independently wealthy, or living in their parent's basement without money issues. Some people are going to pay whatever for the ticket, but just want to know so they can apply their budget to everything else if travel arrangements need to be made. Preparations shouldn't be looked down on as whining. The 10C acting like shitheads over a simple request for information is the problem.

    Word.

Just put it on a credit card and eat ramen and oatmeal for a little while if things are that tight. Springsteen's tickets are $95, and still less than a lot of acts.

Perhaps in the past they subsidized prices but have now decided to make the tour at least pay for itself. They have a lot of helpers who need to be fed, housed and paid for work, and I bet PJ pays their workers decently. Additionally do not forget the carbon neutrality that they practice on tour. These things do have a cost.

I'm just happy that my record of seeing Pearl Jam at least once every year since 2003 will continue unbroken.

I'm gonna throw 2 cents in here, just for the hell of it:

    1) I think we all know about how much the tickets are going to be. The numbers people have been throwing around are consistent and reasonable relative to past tours, IMO. Personally, I think they'll be in the ballpark of $100 - $150/pair or so, depending on city/venue. Close to $200/pair wouldn't surprise me for MSG.

    2) If money is so tight for you that you could do $120 but not, say, $150, you should probably re-think seeing them this time around. If you really need to choose between an extra $30 bucks in groceries/gas/whatever, then stay home, IMO. The possible exception here is younger fans who don't have to pay their own bills, but just don't have the cash.

    3) It is entirely unreasonable for anyone to expect 10C to answer your e-mail personally with information that has not been released publicly. What do you think, they just sit there with the info in hand and wait for someone to ask after it? Come on. The response was a little blunt, to be sure, but if you had to answer god knows how many e-mails about how people haven't renewed lapsed accounts, and why aren't PJ playing in their backyard, and whatever else, you'd be annoyed too.

    4) 10C, it's staff, and your membership to it are luxuries. You are not buying the "right" to anything, including good tickets, or tickets at all. That's not to say 10C should have no standards for fairness or equality when the opportunity arises, but we all know how many wheels and cogs are in motion to make a tour happen, and not everyone will be happy all the time.

    5) Learn to budget. We all pretty much know the cycle: album, big tour, nothing for a while, little tours, single dates, side projects, misc., repeat. Set aside some cash so when the big announcement comes you're ready. I live in Rochester, which means any PJ show is going to involve travel and probably hotel. I don't pull the cash out of my pot 'o gold, I have it saved.

I never said money was a problem, but I do need to make sure I have 5 times the ticket price in my account for when the ten club charges me five times for one pair of tickets.

    touche :D
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
