Did anyone catch that thing right at the end where some dude in the front grabbed Eddie and pulled him off the stage? Ed was back up in a second and they threw he guy out.. but like.. wtf?

I saw that and thought, that's why Eddie generally does not shake people's hands in the audience. He does it one time and the guy just yanks him off stage. So stupid to do such a thing, especially when you're already lucky enough to have a front row seat...

Someone may have already responded but I was a few rows back in the section below that and saw the whole thing go down. Eddie gave that man's son a pic and then shook the father's hand. It looked like he tried to get closer to Ed/pull him slightly closer so that he could tell him something and then Ed got pulled down. It looked like an accident but who knows. Those people got to those seats later in the show so I don't think they belonged there.
they both looked like they had back stage passes, dad got hauled out up the stairs hands behind back and the kid trailed behind while the crowd rocked "Alive"

I wonder what that kid will remember the most...the concert or his dad being escorted out ??

Did anyone get a pic of the setlist? Someone else said Wash was on it?

No Wash, but Crazy Mary made an appearance.

Thanks for posting that - I'm still in shock over that setlist. First Alone for me, and my wife has been wanting ATY since we started going to concerts together in 2000 (I got to see it in 98, but she was across the country at that point). And I am SO glad they added both Gonna See My Friend and Force of Nature - I was thrilled to hear those.

Definitely my favorite show of the 2 Chicago and the last 2 LA shows, but of course thats in part becaues they just happened to play some of my personal favorites.

    thanks again!

Did anyone post Alone in youtube? Would love to see this gem.

You guys are so lucky! This is the second time I miss CC with PJ :( - Santa Barbara and Yesterday.
I hope the philly shows are as spectacular as the ones from LA.

    Kudos to PJ,CC,JC.

    Here's the Alone video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaV135dPhdc

You can view the entire LA4 show, excluding 3 songs due to Flip HD memory limitations, here:

  • Wow. I took my daughter (age 13) last night for her very first Pearl Jam show. She asked if she thought it would be good because it was the last night in LA. Sure, I said.

Am I an idiot, who knew it would be that amazing? I was in heaven, my daughter has been raised on Pearl Jam so she knew all the songs except Kick Out the Jams (not exactly a shock there). She says Red Mosquito and Reign O'er Me are probably her favorites from last night. Oh, and Porch and Alive. Me, I'll take Alone and Blood and All Those Yesterdays (never heard that live before) and Crown of Thorns.

Great show, great energy, we were in a loge section, pretty far down with great fans so thank you everybody for rocking out and showing my daughter that PJ and their fans are the best in the world. My daughter is hooked for life.

She said driving home, who would want to go to a Jonas Brothers concert?

    Enkidu,
you are my hero. My daughter is 3 and although I missed LA4 after seeing LA1-3 (kicking myself royally this morning), the only thing I can think of is how to shape her musical tastes so when Pearl Jam is touring for the next 20 years (fingers, toes, eyes crossed), I can take haer with me. Is there a secret? What's your advice? Did you consider taking her to the 2003 or 2006 tours or is 13 the 'right' age?

Between your daughter and the amazing PJ_Kidd who was updating the setlist thread last night, you give hope to parents with young kids!!!!

The real reason I taped LA3 show (and asked my buddy Bill to tape LA4) is so my kids (8, 5.5, 3) could get familiar with the band, the music and the experience. My oldest son is walking around his school and telling his friends "My dad's Hunger Strike video from the Pearl Jam show is on the RollingStone and has over 30K views in three days..." ; He keeps track of the view and comments couple of times every day now.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLo5miR0dJY

Now I project the show at home and play it loud for them, in preparation for the next time they will be in LA. And they are totally engaged and into it.
  • Sorry guys, just checking to see if I set my signature up correctly...

It just dawned on me that L.A. night 4 did not feature a single song from "Binaural," "Riot Act" or "Pearl Jam."
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

I may be done with Pearl Jam......how in the fuck are they ever going to top THAT???? :o:o:o:mrgreen:

Two days later and my ears are still ringing but whatever permanent hearing loss I have is worth it. Words can't express how good that show was. And to think, I only bought tickets because they sat there all day on day of sale saying "buy me, buy me."

Thanks to the two fine folks who got me to the show and back and put up with my excited, drunken babble  . I owe you.

  • Folks - correct me if I am wrong, but Alone was scratched and they played Wash. I think the set list online is wrong.....
  • Questions regarding the bootlegs...

Any idea/guess as to when they will become available? Will all four LA shows be released at once, or one at a time?

Also, do the bootlegs from thsi tour feature that awesome, haunting piano music that plays as the band takes the stage? I hope so.

    Thanks!

  • Jasunmark.. (Oh, and Given2Fly.. it was great to meet you and your husband)

Ahhh.. back in Monterey. Long drive, tired workday. Worth every minute. I was serious, take a road trip up the coast someday. We're here. We'll show you around.
It was certainly a pleasure to meet you and your friend! I always said PJ fans were a special kind breed.. and you are the kind of people you meet for the first time, but you feel you've known for years. The night only could have been better if he bouncy, walking carpets would have found different seats to steal.

Amazing show. Ed and the boys are obviously happy, feeling their art renewed once more. The energy was similar to the shows I saw in the early days. This is a band who simply loves what they do, and has a blast doing it.

Alive? Amazing... We were close enough to see his expression and the intensity that has not been there in a long, long while.

haha.. yeah, Chewbacca in front of you and Tigger in front of me... she wouldn't stop jumping up and down, even in the slow parts.. oh well, had fun anyway. And yeah... It was pretty cool that 10 seconds after we sat down next to each other we were already chatting about this and that... that's PJ fans for you.

A few reasons why I love Pearl jam

    1. My wife and I got Pit AAA seats (front row in front of Jeff)

    2. In addition to the amazing set and performance of the night, we together held up Eddie while he was singing the 2nd half of Porch. He took my hand to help him off the stage, then he was holding my wife's hand for leverage as I was holding both of his legs for support as he stood on the front row rail.

    3. At the end of the show Mike came down and shook my hand and handed my wife and I his setlist.

    What a night!

I rocked my face off. Such a great show.
Two guys next to us switched so my friends could sit with me. Thanks for that. I know someone posted about that earlier. If that was you, thanks.

So we all rocked all night. So awesome. Amazing the energy change from LA 1-4. 4 was great.
At the end the woman behind us was like: you guys all seemed to really love it and were so into it (or something along those lines). Cool that she not only put up with it, but appreciated it. Would have been horrible if we bothered her- being Eddie's mom and all :) She was so cool...
  • First time we've been to a PJ show in a few years...happy to see they are as intense, honest and musically tight as ever. What a great venue too! Glimpses of early '90's Ed when he floated into crowd during Porch, encouraged us to tear the place apart and smashed mic stand on stage. I'm finding some gems on Backspacer too (Got Some, Just Breath, Amongst..., Force..). As with most PJ albums (since Ten) there are usually a one or two songs that I'm not a huge fan of, but I'm fine with that. This is a GREAT band! I ran into an aquaintance yesterday and I told him about the shows (I went to San Diego too) and his response was typical Ten-Head "I didn't know they were still making music". I now consider it my duty to present him with a "best of" compilation that covers the Ocean of work that PJ has put out since Ten. I owe that to this band. They have gotten my wife (of 18 years) and I through so much. $11.99 is a such small price to pay for the best therapy you can get. :) I consider myself truely blessed to have been on this planet while this band is making music. Please someone tell me if there is a better live band out there right now! :D
Hold onto the thread, the currents will shift. ;)

I told all my friends this was one of my top 3 (non-sexual) nights of my life. Before I got into VIP and chatted up Patrick, I was in Orch 8 TT and behind us standing was Laura Dern and Sheryl Crow for the encores (why were they there I have no idea??) After "Crown of Thorns" I turned around and high-fived both of them!! Than told Sheryl how great she was at Bridge School back in err 2001 I think (I had to say something to her), she went on before The Who and I was amazed how talented she was...after that I had a whole new respect for her. She did an Asian bow to me and said thanks, that is very sweet of you too say...dam she still looks good!!!! All of this and I scalped last nights ticket from this Forum! Many thanks to all you PJ fans...we are the fuckin coolest and PJ is the best band...period!!!!

Steve - What a Night...I'm still on cloud nine!

Laura Dern is Ben Harper's wife. I really miss the innocent criminals, but I thought his opening set with relentless7 was great.

Myself and two friends flew from Dublin, Ireland to be there... and one more flew from Tokyo. It was WELL worth the 5200 mile journey. What a gig!

One of my all time favorite Pearl Jam shows. The crowd was hot and the music was nothing short of magical. All Those Yesterdays....wow; I was completely blown away. I took a friend with me who has never understood my loyalty to this band and how far I will travel for a show. When the show ended she just looked at me and said "I get it". Looking forward to Halloween in Philly.
