What a wonderful setlist last night! I just made it back to Alabama after my red eye flight out of LAX. I went to the 2nd Chicago show back on August 24th, but Los Angeles 4 takes top honors!
United Center (Chicago): 8/24/09
Gibson Amphitheatre (Los Angeles): 10/7/09
Wow. I took my daughter (age 13) last night for her very first Pearl Jam show. She asked if she thought it would be good because it was the last night in LA. Sure, I said.
Am I an idiot, who knew it would be that amazing? I was in heaven, my daughter has been raised on Pearl Jam so she knew all the songs except Kick Out the Jams (not exactly a shock there). She says Red Mosquito and Reign O'er Me are probably her favorites from last night. Oh, and Porch and Alive. Me, I'll take Alone and Blood and All Those Yesterdays (never heard that live before) and Crown of Thorns.
Great show, great energy, we were in a loge section, pretty far down with great fans so thank you everybody for rocking out and showing my daughter that PJ and their fans are the best in the world. My daughter is hooked for life.
She said driving home, who would want to go to a Jonas Brothers concert?

Hoping for a 4-show bootleg set for LA similar to what was done for The Gorge. Each LA show alone was fantastic...the four together was just f*cking amazing.
Honestly, I think each night in LA was better than the last. I thought night 3 was one of the best I have ever been to, and night 4 was even better. I think it was my favorite show ever. Unbelievable.
Untitled!!!! That was the one I've been waiting for for ever.

I feel exactly the same way. The set on night four was even able to surpass just how great it was to have Cornell there to help sing Hunger Strike.

Enkidu,
you are my hero. My daughter is 3 and although I missed LA4 after seeing LA1-3 (kicking myself royally this morning), the only thing I can think of is how to shape her musical tastes so when Pearl Jam is touring for the next 20 years (fingers, toes, eyes crossed), I can take haer with me. Is there a secret? What's your advice? Did you consider taking her to the 2003 or 2006 tours or is 13 the 'right' age?
Between your daughter and the amazing PJ_Kidd who was updating the setlist thread last night, you give hope to parents with young kids!!!!
Thank you Ten Club for front row pit AAA seats! 2nd LA show I went to; first was night one, 5th Row Pit, too.
Great fans all around us. Thanks for the pick, neighbor!
Highlights:
[*] Crown, Hail, Nothingman, Reign O'er Me, Porch, Blood, Unthought Known into All Those Yesterdays.
[*] Boom's intro to Reign O'er Me - GET THE BOOT TO HEAR OR YOUTUBE IT!
[*] Helping Eddie stand up when he leaned into our row during Porch and signing along with him.
[*] Getting a set list (will try to get a pic up).
[*] Jazz Odyssey with the strings. They had no idea WTF was going on and it was funny as hell.
I do not have much more to say that has not already been said. Ridiculous show, ridiculous seats, ridiculous energy. I am not going to list the songs I wished they played because there was no room for improvement. McCready was (as usual) a character on stage, Jeff (as usual) stays to himself, and the rest of the guys rocked. Eddie wanted the strings to stay out for Reign O'er Me but I don't think they understood. They hung out for Red Mosquito then left.
The Fixer rocks live. After two listens live, it is fast becoming one of my live favorites.

Last night was the best PJ show I've ever been to. You couldn't beat the shock and excitement of Cornell coming out, but the set list last night?! Are you kidding me? I would have been kicking myself more had I missed this instead of night 3. Wow can't wait for San Diego tomorrow, but I'm worried nothing can top last night.

Seeing that incredible setlist made me a little sad, because I was at the first 3 LA shows, and yet I knew this would be the best one, but couldn't go. All Those Yesterdays and Alone? Good God almighty! To those of you who were there, congrats, I think you just witnessed one of their top 10 performances ever. Night 3 was awesome, but looking at that set, I'd take night 4 over it any day. The only strange thing is they did not play In Hiding, In My Tree or Smile during any of the 4 shows, and those are my 3 favorites. I don't think they played Brain of J either. If they played even 2 of those last night I would be shedding tears right now. This band just has too many amazing songs, it's a blessing and sometimes also frustrating.
Change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.

Ok, that's enough out of you, mojo. That's crazy talk. Tomorrow is the last show before Philly, on a Friday night and in San Diego so it better be special. Let's just hope Ed doesn't tire himself out too much surfing.
A dream show! Wishlist and Love Reign O'er Me - I was in heaven. I just worry about that final "It'll be a while" before they're back comment. At least I still have San Diego to look forward to. Of the 4, last night was imho the best ( albeit Hunger Strike was incredible)
Did anyone get the line Eddie added to Wishlist after 'I wish I was the President'??? He was going to do something to someone - couldn't make it out.
As for what age to take a kid - I took my son to Eddie's Into the Wild solo show in San Diego at 11 - he was trying to stay awake for part of it. Took him to LA #2 and he was REALLY into it - at 13. Of course the music was a bit different.
On the other hand I saw "Uncle Neil" at age 10 (I asked to be taken - my parents thankfully obliged). And the Doors at 12. So it highly depends on the kid. (I still ask to be taken to see Uncle Neil whenever he comes around...)

You can thank the one and only Patrick Warburton aka Puddy from Seinfeld and from Rules of Engagement for most of that fantastic setlist last night! Patrick is a huge fan, he befriended Eddie. Eddie asked Patrick to put together a setlist, he did and about 80% of what we heard last night was from that list. "Nothingman", "Alone", "Spin The Black Circle", "Untitled", "All Those Yesterdays", "Wishlist", "Blood" and "Crown of Thorns" and a few others. Patrick is so freakin' cool!!!
I wanna say THANKS Patrick great work on that setlist!!! Keep rocking and stay funny!!!
