89 - Who can forget 1-15.
Packers - Rodgers has been sacked what, 37 times this season? They have injury issues too. Kampman not playing. I am not worried too much about them. But, it does feel like a trap game to me. Especially because if GB loses they are most likely done.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

I think they'll be up for the Pack this weekend. Esp Romo, since its a homecoming game for him.
My son has been talking crap all week, so its a big game for us!Twenty-ten watch it go to fire!!!0 -
I'll take Cowboys 28-17. I think Barber and Choice will have good days as well as DeMarcus. I think Victor Butler needs more playing time.....he's made big plays when he's been in.1996: 9/28 Randalls Island, 9/29 Randalls Island

A game that Romo needed to be great if they were going to win. Someone else on the offensive side of the ball needs to step up once and a while. Can't help but think that thee fumble by Williams set the tone for the offence. Watching the Indy Pats game and already witnessed 3 great catches, 2 by the pats and 1 by Indy, thats one luxury Romo don't have, very seldom do his receivers make great catches, another luxury Romo don't have is playing games where the offence doesn't have to make up yards because of all the dumb penalties. With Philadelphia losing at least we didn't lose a game to them, and we have a very good chance to be 9-3 after thanksgiving and thats not bad. Still Romo needs other players to step, and if the penalties continue it will continue to be the achilles heal of this team.I have certain rules I live by ... My First Rule ... OK, after gathering thoughts.
First off, we can absolve the defense from any blame in this game. Outside of a couple of drive-sustaining penalties (although one was a phantom hands-to-the-face), they played an outstanding game and only gave up one long drive. They played more than well enough to win.
The offense though. This game falls on Garrett (he who panics and abandons the run even though it is churning out the yards), Romo (who needed to be great but also needs help), the OL (who could not block anybody), the receivers (Roy - looking right at you), and penalties.
Roy better shut his fucking mouth this week. He better not complain about not getting the ball after fumbling like that and then having another pass hit him in the face, followed by him yelling at Romo that the ball was high! If I was Romo, I would tell RW to go fuck himself. This team has rallied around Romo the past few games and everything was clicking. I think he has taken on a bigger leadership role and we don't need Roy fucking it up. Shut up and catch the fucking ball and when you do, hold on to it.
Mr. Garrett - if you have three talented running backs that Green Bay couldn't stop consistently, why totally abandon them when you are only down by 3? Seriously? Also, could you hold Felix Jones out? He clearly still isn't right.
Flozell Adams - time to go man. You have been great in the pass but now the only thing you are good for is whiffing on blocks and committing false starts. Everyone who plays this game eventually reaches a point where they can no longer keep up. You have reached that point. Romo can't do anything when he is being constantly slammed into on his blind side at full speed two seconds after the ball is snapped.
And to the NFL - Can we get some officials who know how to manage a game please? Jeff Tripplet is the worst ref in the game. How does he not know that Green Bay was out of challenges and when he does figure that out, why is there no penalty for delay of game??? And what was with that fumble call? Way to make us feel better by admitting to Wade that you fucked that call up. Thanks buddy. The hands to the face call on Jenkins was a crime. I know the Cowboys sucked so bad that it didn't make a difference, but come on, we are only asking for competence here.
What an ugly, horrible game. Couldn't make the right play calls and when they did, they couldn't execute. Dom Capers had them completely confused. Hats off to the Green Bay defense. They did their homework for sure. But the shitty play calling combined with the turnovers and penalties has got to stop.
Oh well, at least Philly lost and we can still finish the month at 9-3 if he handle Washington and Oakland.
Injuries - the Columbo loss is the worst thing to come out of this game. This is going to hurt.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

I still don't understand what happened on this play. How did the call not get overturned? If I remember right, the excuse given was that the ref didn't go into the replay booth to review that aspect of the play, but rather something else that happened. The rule is you can't review who has possession after a fumble, unless it is in the end zone. That makes some sense because you don't want challenges every time there is a scrum. But why didn't Tripplet know that? Why go on with the review?
Also my argument would have been that Jones got possession and then was down by contact. First fumble = over. Second fumble didn't happen because Jones was down. Tripplet admitted to Wade that he fucked the call up.
My main gripe is that it seems like every game (not just Cowboys) there are refs that don't know how to manage the game, don't know the rules, are quick to whistle to blow a play dead before it fully develops, or lets players make the calls (pass interference being the worst, but also on false starts sometimes). They become a deciding factor sometimes and that shouldn't be. Not that they decided the Cowboys/Packers game, but come on. Do your job!DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

Upon seeing the replay I completely agree with you. He was down by contact.
But in defense of the ref it did happen really quickly. I know that it's not really an excuse, but unless he was in exactly the right spot, his view of Jones possession would have been obscured by some other player on the field and he wouldn't have seen Jones hands wrapped around the ball securely. I think this is what happened."A lot more people are capable of being big out there that just don't give themselves a chance." -Stone Gossard0 -
Flagg wrote:ut why didn't Tripplet know that? Why go on with the review?
Also, I think Joe Buck and Troy Aikman picked up on this pretty clearly by some of their comments."A lot more people are capable of being big out there that just don't give themselves a chance." -Stone Gossard0 -

I am glad this game wasn't on local tv...it would have only frustrated me even more. Garrett annoys the crap out of me when he abandons the running game. He tries to get too cute or something...just keep pounding the ball. Even though I thought they'd win, this game scared me after winning 4 in a row and going into the Redskins/Raiders game....hopefully this wakes them up and they take care of business next week. Yeah, now that I have vented above, I am not so upset anymore. At least it wasn't a division game. They just won 4 straight and should win the next two. All in all this is not that big of a deal as long as they just take care of business.
Long term thoughts though - I think there may be a reason we could have another late season meltdown. The offensive line is already starting to show signs of breaking down. In 2007, it was OL that failed against the Giants. In 2008 it was the OL (and everyone else) that failed against the Eagles. They looked bad against Green Bay (Flozell looked OLD) and now have injuries (Columbo). This is one of the oldest and biggest OLs in the league. All of them are either past their prime or on the back-end of it. I think if anything causes a fall this year, it will be the OL collapsing.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

I'm not even reading any of the comments about the Packers game. That was embarrassing. No excuses. We just came out flat and got our asses kicked. I can only hope something was learned from Sunday that will help down the line.0

Yeah, they really have not done anything draft-wise to build up the depth at O-Line...something they need to do in the draft this year. I still think they are in good shape, they need to sweep next week because December is going to be tough....the schedule sure isn't easy....Giants I think will be corrected after their bye week, then SD and New Orleans.....and of course the last game against Philly...should be a fun second half of the season.1996: 9/28 Randalls Island, 9/29 Randalls Island
