And what was with that fumble call? Way to make us feel better by admitting to Wade that you fucked that call up.
I still don't understand what happened on this play. How did the call not get overturned? If I remember right, the excuse given was that the ref didn't go into the replay booth to review that aspect of the play, but rather something else that happened. Was this right?
The rule is you can't review who has possession after a fumble, unless it is in the end zone. That makes some sense because you don't want challenges every time there is a scrum. But why didn't Tripplet know that? Why go on with the review?
Also my argument would have been that Jones got possession and then was down by contact. First fumble = over. Second fumble didn't happen because Jones was down. Tripplet admitted to Wade that he fucked the call up.
My main gripe is that it seems like every game (not just Cowboys) there are refs that don't know how to manage the game, don't know the rules, are quick to whistle to blow a play dead before it fully develops, or lets players make the calls (pass interference being the worst, but also on false starts sometimes). They become a deciding factor sometimes and that shouldn't be. Not that they decided the Cowboys/Packers game, but come on. Do your job!

Upon seeing the replay I completely agree with you. He was down by contact.
But in defense of the ref it did happen really quickly. I know that it's not really an excuse, but unless he was in exactly the right spot, his view of Jones possession would have been obscured by some other player on the field and he wouldn't have seen Jones hands wrapped around the ball securely. I think this is what happened.

I am glad this game wasn't on local tv...it would have only frustrated me even more. Garrett annoys the crap out of me when he abandons the running game. He tries to get too cute or something...just keep pounding the ball. Even though I thought they'd win, this game scared me after winning 4 in a row and going into the Redskins/Raiders game....hopefully this wakes them up and they take care of business next week. Sucks Columbo is out, hopefully Doug Free can be decent in his place.

Yeah, now that I have vented above, I am not so upset anymore. At least it wasn't a division game. They just won 4 straight and should win the next two. All in all this is not that big of a deal as long as they just take care of business.
Long term thoughts though - I think there may be a reason we could have another late season meltdown. The offensive line is already starting to show signs of breaking down. In 2007, it was OL that failed against the Giants. In 2008 it was the OL (and everyone else) that failed against the Eagles. They looked bad against Green Bay (Flozell looked OLD) and now have injuries (Columbo). This is one of the oldest and biggest OLs in the league. All of them are either past their prime or on the back-end of it. I think if anything causes a fall this year, it will be the OL collapsing.
I'm not even reading any of the comments about the Packers game. That was embarrassing. No excuses. We just came out flat and got our asses kicked. I can only hope something was learned from Sunday that will help down the line.

Yeah, they really have not done anything draft-wise to build up the depth at O-Line...something they need to do in the draft this year. I still think they are in good shape, they need to sweep next week because December is going to be tough....the schedule sure isn't easy....Giants I think will be corrected after their bye week, then SD and New Orleans.....and of course the last game against Philly...should be a fun second half of the season.

Yeah, the last time they did that, they lost against Washington last year.

Yeah another game to be frustrated with Garrett. Its like he gets a plan in his head and can't adjust or just abandons the run to easily and starts trying to hit homeruns. A very frustrating game. I've now seen the NYG, Denver and Packer games at the bar... May be I should stay out of the bar.
Overall, I don't think it means that much, we have a very good team and I don't think we are in for another Dec meltdown. May be it was a good thing to lose this one at this time. By far, the worst part of Sunday was losing Columbo. If Garrett doesn't do a better job soon, this should be his last year. This one definitely gets blamed on him. I haven't been able to watch football since the game, even missed the Pats - Indy game, I was so disgusted. No excuse for Garrett, but the worst call was the phantom interference on Jenkins that cost us a def TD. Refs are absolutely horrible this year. If we get that score, it changes the game, but "oh well".

Maybe you should blame me for the Cowboys woes ...
I pikced up Nick Folk as a kicker for one of my fantasy leagues before last week (after the Cowboys were reeling off points) and he has scored exactly 1 point in 6 quarters for me ... fucker.

What an ugly game!!!!The officiating just sucks, that throw by Campbell was intentional grounding. Why in the hell is Williams even in the lineup? Sometimes you have to go up and make a play for your QB. If they lose this one, then I'm guessing Garret and Phillips will be ushered out at season end.

yes it was grounding!
Garrett at least needs to go. The fucking defense can't do everything.

Might be a time for a switch at QB. Also why not more Choice, how bout Ogletree? On the plus side Free seems to be playing well.

This team is not going to the playoffs. We have no idea what to do on offense. When we run too much we put up a bunch of yards but can't score, when we pass too much we put up a bunch of yards but can't score...it makes no sense. Defensively we are good, but how will that work out later in the year? Our guys are getting hurt left and right...ugh.
fully expecting a double digit victory tonight. 2 picks by cutler.

I don't know about not going to the playoffs. The game was awful, the D is a bright spot, the young RT seemed to do a good job, Ball wasn't all that bad, injuries are part of the game, just have to deal with them. If we beat Oakland we will be 8-3, I think 10 wins get you a wildcard berth, with the exception of the Saints and Vikings it seems no one team really wants to step and take control. As for the O, less Williams, more Crayton, more Choice, some Ogletree keep getting the ball to Witten and Bennett and less predictability. I think Garret will likely be gone anyways. Bottom line is you have to come to play every game, just ask Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
