Absolutely amazing night. Not sure how they're going to equal it, never mind better it, tonight!
Took my 13 year old step daughter-she veered from whooping and screaming to sitting down gazing at the stage in complete amazement. Pretty much summed it up for me.
Only got 4 hours sleep, got to get ready to catch a train to London soon
Another amazing gig! Got to hear the Even Flow/Present Tense combo again!
Mike was playing the solo of EF behind his back, like the ghost of Hendrix - what a guy! Really long setlist (and yet, I still wanted more!) Highlights for me: In Hiding, Present Tense, Rearviewmirror and Smile.
The only downpoint I picked up on was that there was no tag on the end of Daughter, and as a result it just ended. Anyone know what I'm trying to say here?! We want our tags, dagnamit!!

We planned to hang back, cos my old man was with us, but ended up dropping him as soon as last exit started and found ourselves on row 2 behind a midgets collective (great view !)
great to hear some of that stuff like in hiding and smile. i'd make a wishlist of songs for london but really every one is so great the way they are playing... it doesn't matter what they play, it's gonna be another epic night.
I didn't go but you got some fantastic tracks like Smile, All Night, Black and Leash. Outstanding set list.
I called my folks before - mom was like a kid in a sweetshop. Many from the another thread on this board thought it was great how my parents were off to see Pearl Jam after I got them into the boys.
Here is the verdicts from my folks from some early morning texts following their maiden PJ experience:
Mom - All I can say is they are absolutely the best band I have ever seen, they were brilliant
Dad (who is usually quite misserable) - Pearl Jam were very good - but I hate big arena gigs. Best I can say is at times they sound like Crazy Horse, Neil Young's band - that's fuckin awesome!
Roll on tonight!!!!!
Rock on!!!!
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.
Really great show, good to see a great mix in the crowd (old and young)
Highlights for me were Long Road (Ed' hitting the notes straight from the off) a great Evenflow (the first really big crowd song Mike was loving it)
Smile (Jeff having his moment on guitar) and probably The Real Me which is one of my favourite covers they do..the Fixer is sounding great live, still not 100% on Got Some (Even without their mistaken start ) But no doubt it will grow on me...Roll on Perth, cant wait!
Dad (who is usually quite misserable) - Pearl Jam were very good - but I hate big arena gigs. Best I can say is at times they sound like Crazy Horse, Neil Young's band - that's fuckin awesome!
Ahahaha that reminds me so much of my old man!! A veteran of Hendrix '67, Led Zep '68 and Isle of Wight 70, I took my parents to Wembley 07 and he came out with similar cryptic views. Though they do now both love Ten and Vs... I reckon those two albums in particular appeal to 60's / 70's blues and rock fans.
Anyway onto the Manchester gig, that is another amazing setlist, you guys should feel very lucky I hope the band a) have enough energy to put on a great show tonight and b) they somehow manage to top the Berlin and Manc setlists!
the biggest reason you guys are lucky is they only played one tune from Avocado...I hope they don't reverse that tonight!
Looked like a great show for sure...how many times have we said "how could they ever top that?"...yet, they usually do! They are building up for an epic euro finish...can't wait for tonight!

Hope your right, but that is a very special set to top! My glimmer of hope is that they are releasing 3 songs off the O2 gig with backspacer (form Townsend Records) so they should be up for it!
Now it all comes down to numbers, now I'm glad that I have quit
Folks these days just don't do nothing simple for the love of it
Hey Guys
Thanks for the reviews of last night's gig. Sounds awesome!
I am off to see them tonight at London and I really can't wait - counting down the hours!

WOW, that was by far the loudest the MEN Arena has ever been.
We took a friend last night, it was her first show. Started out about 10 rows back almost in front of Stone. After the beautiful Long Road, Last Exit kicked in and it was mayhem. The pit was really rough, so we moved a bit more to the side where we then had a bit more room to jump up and down and dance.
Just looking back at the setlist, we got some real treats. Binaural is my favourite album, and Sleight Of Hand is up there as one of my favourite tracks but I never even thought they would bust it out because it's somewhat rare. It was absolutely stunning, even if Stone did seem to forget the song during the last verse lol.
Even Flow got a huge reaction, unsurprisingly. It's not just badass that Mike played most of the solo behind his back, it's that he did it with a straight face and didn't show off about it. He just stood there and played, and it was immense.
Stone made me laugh so many times with his facial expressions, sometimes he looked like he was in pain when he played. During Do The Evolution he was seriously headbanging and rocking out. Ed changed it once again to 'admire Stone' and we all cheered.
During Given to Fly, my friend started feeling sick so we went to the back of the arena and got some water to cool down. For the rest of the show we stood at the back of the arena where we could see everyone on stage perfectly and see the screens perfectly too. There was so much room to dance around and the people that were there were all into it and dancing.
It was also nice to see the huge crowd participating from this vantage point, it was a sight to see. Especially during the Alive fist pump or the Hallelujah in DTE.
Wished we could've heard Baba instead of The Real Me but that's really the only minor gripe with the show. Indifference was beautiful and the crowd sang super loud. The only other thing I'll mention is that there were some serious assholes in the crowd up front. Idiot guys who had no consideration for anyone, moshing completely out of control and swinging their arms and legs about like losers. I'm seriouly thinking about either getting seats or hanging back for my next show because it was nice to have a good view and lots of room to dance.
All in all, a very different experience but still an amazing time and we had loads of fun. One of the more fun shows I've ever seen!

Shame about the nob ends in the crowd, we stood about 25-30 yards back dead centre and were pretty comfortable all night. Don't you just love the people who turn up last minute and push their way to the front, wonderful human beings, unavoidable at a GA show though. I thinks it's gonna be seats for me too next time, I love the floor but I'm getting on a bit and my legs ache like fuck this morning From what I could see, those in the 10 club seats were up dancing all night and having as good a time as those on the floor, I think that will suit me fine next time. A wonderful night, still buzzing.
^^ Yeah, there were a few GA folks who blatantly walked right up to us and pushed past and then sat right in front of us and ignored everyone who tried to tell them to move a bit. Absolute fools, they ruin the shows.
From the back of the arena, we were looking around and pretty much everyone in seats was up dancing and having a ball. It was great to see.

The set list of this show was its strength. Sleight of Hand, In Hiding, and Smile were the highlights for me.
There seemed to be a lot of technical issues. I've never seen Eddie so mad before. He was mad at his tech, he chucked a full glass bottle off the side of the stage, and there were equipment problems. The energy at the show seemed good, and when you're at the front, that wave of energy makes up for the other stuff. It just seemed like the band wasn't in sync and there seemed to be equipment issues.

Iv'e been a PJ fan from the start, but tonight was my first gig !!!!!!!!! Don't ask.
Went with my new wife, we postponed our honeymoon to see PJ, the best decision of our lives. We were standing a few feet from the front, my wife is only small but she was right amongst it in the pit. We finished the night 1/2 stone lighter from sweating, it was damn hot. Crowd were amazing i had to look round to remind myself i was in a big venue. There were a few over zealous people but hey ho, no way that spoiled our night you just have to go with it, 99.9% of fans were just smiling and on a massive trip to witness such a great band.
Vedders vocals were amazing and the band just looked like they were going all out. Given to fly was awesome, and rearview mirror took the roof off. The fixer sounded great as well.
Unbelievable night, especially our first time and having read other reviews we picked a good night.
We now have to hope our honeymoon lives up to the concert!! And start saving so we can see them again no matter where they play.
