WOW, that was by far the loudest the MEN Arena has ever been.
. The only other thing I'll mention is that there were some serious assholes in the crowd up front. Idiot guys who had no consideration for anyone, moshing completely out of control and swinging their arms and legs about like losers. I'm seriouly thinking about either getting seats or hanging back for my next show because it was nice to have a good view and lots of room to dance.
All in all, a very different experience but still an amazing time and we had loads of fun. One of the more fun shows I've ever seen!

I was there in Rotterdam with some of the younger dudes and we jumped up and had some fun.
With almost 36 and a body that tells it it's different when i was in my early 20's.
Those days I went to some real hardrock gig's in Holland like Dynamo Open Air.
I also read it some other show reviews that some of you are disturbed by it.
My left foot has a little blue spot and my right leg is just healed. Don't meantion my neck and head... :twisted:
If you really listen to those heavy rocksongs and know how they started in the early '90-es you won't we be asking why some of us are jumping and rocking around. That's is just the way to relive those songs

What a bloody brilliant night and what a set!! They just sounded so good and even Alive brought out a bunch of emotions in me, even though normally I can take or leave it (I think it was to do with the energy and mood of the crowd in that particular instance, and hearing everyone singing along so loudly). Was especially happy to hear Given to Fly , In Hiding, Smile and Present Tense. Nice to have a bit of Sleater-Kinney thrown in as well (my other favourite band)!
We started off about 10 rows from the front, near the middle, and yes, things did get crazy almost straight away with Last Exit. I felt a bit like a rag doll; the crowd was surging in every direction and I was jammed in so tight I could hardly breathe at one point! I had to get out...and my friend had to drag me as I literally couldn't extricate myself!! Then I felt lame for not being about to take it!
Right, time to get back in the car and head to Londinium!

Ed said something about it being hot up on stage and it must be hot down there, yes it was and a bit mad at times, thanks to the lads who kept hold of us during RVM and asking us if we were ok.
Loved all the tracks off Vs - one of my favourite albums so great to hear so much from it, and that was my 5th show but I've never seen Rearviewmirror. And Leash. Whooo!
First time I've heard Black, too - so beautiful, so emotional, closest I've ever been to tears at a gig. I think the girl next to me was a bit worried, must have looked a little torn up.
First times for Last Exit and Not For You too, and both of those were just incredible.
After SBE and this, the only thing I reeeeeeeeeeeally want to see them do that they've not done before is Rats. Fingers crossed for tonight. It's so worth seeing them multiple times on one tour.
Was in the pit for U2 at Wembley on sat night and right in the pit last night. Two incredible bands and two incredible shows. Last night's blew the SBE show out the water and is up there in the top 3 shows of seeing PJ (think I'm up to 14 or 15 shows now) and once i reflect on it it could be challenging for the best I've seen them.
At one point I thought i was getting too old for the pit but i hung in there but I was completely exhausted afterwards.
Bit of food and Beers at Wagamamas before hand (we got there just in time, it was empty, by about 5:30 it was full of PJ fans and queueing out the door!)
Cracking TC tickets in the best block, right side of stage, 6 rows up and everyone standing and bouncing about all night!
Gomez were decent, I have seen them before and to be honest there set list could have been a bit cleverer (but I reckon they know that most people there won't know them from Jack Sh*t so understandable that they just kept it to a few higher tempo songs). They sounded decent tho and the crowd was on top of it quite well which was nice.
Firstly tho, I have NEVER seen the MEN that packed out, even 2001 wasn't as heaving as that. I have seen some HUGE acts in there, no one has ever filled the floor and had about 50% of the seats stood up all night long!
Great set, only downside is I was expecting them to finish with Yellow Ledbetter (and if you ask me the way Mike was hanging around whilst the rest walked off stage, I think he was up for it as well!)
Evenflow was immense, the whole show (technical difficulties aside) was spot on, and even the new TV screens were brilliant.
The crowd were awesome, reacting really well, Girl at the front has to be a TC member surely (70 gigs!)
and how many fires can you have on stage in one night (I counted two!) and I think Eddie went thru about 4 mics
Great bit before the Who cover where Jeff was trying frantically to re-change his bass and Mike was trying to catch Eddies attention to carry on talking for a bit whilst the switchover took place........made me smile anyway....

Get back from Manchester, getting ready for O2 tonight, Great night, different but probably better than SBE, great to talk to people from Italy, Greece, Sweden, Portugal....
I started the show 5 rows centre in front of Eddie, for a moment I was at Stone side then finish Mike side.. the pit was really wild for some songs.. apart from 5 or 6 guys we all take care of each other while rocking jumping dancing singing...the only problem it was really HOT... so at the end I was nackered... but happy!! oh so happy!
The set list was excellent (apart from the 2nd encore after GO too Greatest Hits in my opinion !! but well we have some rare songs on the main list so that's OK, don't get me wrong I love Daughter, but yesterday was not really good and without tag at the end it was like the guys didn't know hoy to end it, they just cut it and that's it )
Mike solo in Evenflow was amazing, Present Tense brilliant, RVM the best song last night in my opinion, Smile dedicated to the 70th show girl was really good, The Fixer good, Got Some they had a problem as in SBE and had to restart!... and then Indifference was really good, nice singalong from the crowd..
I was expecting them to play Baba O Riley instead of the Real Me when they dedicated the song to "Pete Townshend JR " ... and I'm still waiting for Crown of Thorns, Hunger Strike... and BREATH.... There's always hope for tonight's show in London...
This was my 18th concert and I have to said that is one of the best... hope tonight will be even better, and probably at 34 I'm getting older but me too, I think that for the next tour I will go for seats instead of standing, or as someone said probably I will spot a nice play in the middle or in the back just to enjoy the show the atmosphere, to jump, to sing and just enjoy the show ( and I think they will have the same screens tonight) instead of spending my time pushing and being pushed and being careful of the shoes on my head of the crowd surfers ...............
Amazing show. Best I've been to. I think Ed would have played all night if he had his way. He was a bit pissed off with some technical stuff and his tech was getting a real earful at times, but Ed was really buzzing with energy the way that only Ed can. Crowd was on good form and I was soaked through - reminded me of being sixteen again! Mike's amp or lead started a small fire in the second encore, but he just played on regardless and got his tech to put it out with a towel. Mike - what a pro, the place could be burning to the ground but he'd still be in the zone.
It was a hellishly loud set - I love it when you can feel the bass/drums thumping in your chest

Awesome show. Definitely stands up to 2000 Manc show and probably beats it. This is my 6th show and i was on the floor. So much stuff I have never seen them play before Sleight of Hand, All Night, Smile (they nearly played this is Nijmegen '07, after the balloons). I was particularly tickled by Ed coming out and saying "I'm surrounded by Mancunians! Mancs!", repeating verbatim from the 2000 show, except correcting "Manchesterians". That was such a brilliant in-joke. I feel honoured to have such a geeky joke bestowed on me:) Other good moments, include Eddie's "bad hair day" comments, where he asked to swap hair with a guy in the front row and dedicating Smile to the woman that had seen 70 shows (saying that in the old days, if you saw the magic number of 69 shows, you got to sleep with Mike McCready:)).
I was amazed that I didn't feel all that tired, after such a long show jumping around, but I think the variety of the setlist and the volume and enthusiasm of the crowd gave me a lot more energy. There was a point during Save You I think, where Ed seemed to laugh and give up singing, because the crowd was so loud. Why Go was super loud. I went crazy for that one.
Low Light was amazing. I didn't expect to hear In Hiding and particularly not All Night. New material sounded great. It was awesome that they didn't even need to introduce it as new material. People were singing along to the Fixer, as if it was an oldie. Got Some didn't get as much of a response in my part of the crowd, but it sounded great.
Overall, awesome. I could only afford one show this tour, so I am extra pleased it rocked so hard.

It was funny when he started to sing Grievance and suddenly realised his mic was facing the crowd and he was singing into the back of it!

Just listening to Rearview Mirror on CD and reminiscing about last night's rendition of it....I went to see them in Berlin on Saturday night also. Both gigs amazing, though the Berlin venue - beautiful evening in an amphitheatre at sunset, in the middle of a forest - almost spiritual!
Definitely some technical issues last night - the tech guy was standing right in front of Eddie fixing his mike while Ed was trying to sing! Ed actually stormed off to the side of the stage while the tech guy fixed it - not a happy man at that point!
Anyway back to the good stuff - yet another amazing night. I went by myself last night, first time I've ever gone to a gig solo - but I had an amazing time! Just rocked out near the front for the whole night! Really interesting setlist. Narrowly missed out on getting one of Matt's drumsticks! Lack of finances means I can't see any more gigs this time around - for everyone going tonight, enjoy!
PS: Anyone on the floor - if you didn't get your ticket back at the end of the gig as promised, just call up MEN Arena and they'll post one out to you.

Sorry to hear that. I've been going to gigs at the MEN since '97, and I've never stood for any band. We had TC seats (block 102) and were no more than 20ft away from the stage. Enough room to stand up and dance too!

Got to the front after the absolute disgrace of MEN's 'dis-organisation' of the early entry..but i soon forgot about that.
Gomez....i really enjoyed them, haven't heard em for years and i really appreciatted them...they now look like chemistry teachers rather than students ha!

Stone is enjoying his hair...mucho handbanging!...they energy of the band was 2nd to none, if everyone gets the same passion then no-one will be dissapointed.
What a setlist. full of so many great surprises...SOH..amazing...Last Exit, SMILE (!!!!!!), Real Me, In Hiding....i could list the whole set list!
Plus on the crowd side of things....compared to Paris 06 it wasn't as bad...i wasn't as drenced when i came out and today i can walk!
We didn't appreciate some guys coming down the front pushing heavily on us on the rail, slightly 'overenjoying' themselves. One person sneakily squeezed into the spot the guy next to me had whilst he was being a good samaritan and helping security get rid of a bloody crowd surfer. what a nice fella eh?...i wudn't mind but he was absolutly out of it and looked like he was falling asleep...
we eventually combined and got rid of him and got the big guy's space back...happy days

Sorry to hear that. I've been going to gigs at the MEN since '97, and I've never stood for any band. We had TC seats (block 102) and were no more than 20ft away from the stage. Enough room to stand up and dance too!
I stood up at Shepherds Bush, and my back was killing me afterwards!

Stone is enjoying his hair...mucho handbanging!...they energy of the band was 2nd to none, if everyone gets the same passion then no-one will be dissapointed.

We didn't appreciate some guys coming down the front pushing heavily on us on the rail, slightly 'overenjoying' themselves. One person sneakily squeezed into the spot the guy next to me had whilst he was being a good samaritan and helping security get rid of a bloody crowd surfer. what a nice fella eh?...i wudn't mind but he was absolutly out of it and looked like he was falling asleep...
we eventually combined and got rid of him and got the big guy's space back...happy days
