    Good point, but the release of the live albums would ultimately lead to their widespread sharing via torrents, and I would presume the band wouldn't want to contribute to that rampant sharing. Obviously in order to generate hype over a future release, a band is going to release an official single and sharing is to be expected, but it's just one or two songs. In the case of Got Some, they probably just wanted to play something new for that major tv event, something with energy, and knowing that The Fixer was going to be their first single they played Got Some instead. After Backspacer is released, I can imagine that the official bootlegs will finally get the attention everyone's been waiting for.

    The only song from the new album that was played live, and that hasn't been released or played on national television is The End. So, releasing the boots would only get fans one extra song. Your argument sounds a bit tenuous.
