Someone did yesterday and the thread got locked right away.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Has anyone else heard the music from the end? It sounds like it may have horns.

yes, the end has violin, viola, cello and horns. just breathe has violin, viola, and cello (despite what mike said, i don't think it has horns but could be wrong). i don't think boom is on the album.

  • Thanks. I think there is a mistake (at least as I hear it).

I think "Waiting on a sun that just done come" is actually "Waiting on a sun that just DON'T come"

    Anyone else hear the same?

Yes, "don't". There are a few typos in what was posted on that site. He also meant "peace" but typed "piece"... and so on.. what do you expect for free :)
  • The Fixer is a great song better anything that was on the self titled record.

    It wasn't locked, just moved.
    The Speed of Sound

    Yesterdays, how quick they change
All lost and long gone now
    Want to remember anything
Moving at the speed of sound
    With the speed of sound

And yet I'm still holding tight
To this dream of distant light
    In that, somehow I'll survive
But this night has been a long one
Waiting on a sun that just don’t come

Can I forgive what I cannot forget
    and live a lie?
I could give it one more try

    Why deny this drive inside?
    Just looking for some peace
Every time I get me some
It gets the best of me
    Not much left, you see

And yet I'm still holding tight
To this dream of distant light
In that, somehow I'll somehow survive
But this night has been a long one
Waiting on a word that never comes

    The whisper in the dark
Is that you or just my thoughts?
I'm wide awake and reaching out
    Its gone so quiet now
Could it be I’m farther out
Moving faster than the speed of sound

If this song was sang by some no name loser, none of you fanbois would be even slightly interested. With all seriousness, it is really not a strong song. The only reason why it is good is because it is sang by Eddie Vedder.

I'm sorry but somebody had to say it.

    I agree.

But it will grow on me and I will like it because I like PJ/Veddere etc. But still, if this was sung but anyone else no one would have cared.

As I said before, nothing hooks me. A bit like Off he goes, don't like that one either.

Bullshit. I love the melody, it's subtle, but still good and memorable. Plus I think the lyrics are decent. Ed singing it is a bonus!

It is absolutely gorgeous, I can't believe how much I instantly love it. It doesn't even need the band, it's beautiful as it is. The harmonies, the melody...it's perfect.

The End, Speed of Sound, Got Some, The Fixer - Backspacer already kicks ass.

I'm really liking the demo of Speed of Sound, it has the potential to be a classic song. What the band does with this song on the album (music-wise) will be critical.

I'm a great fan of many obscure folk-orientated singer-songwriters, or "no-name losers" as you put it. It's usually the multi-platinum selling, formula-chugging rawwwwk bands whose music tends to bore my arse into terminal paralysis. And not because I'm some kind of snobby hipster. I just appreciate a good choon. The more PJ sounds like your "no-name losers", the better I like it.

I second this, the full band album version is gonna blow me away...I'm fine with this demo...its a gem
I met my wife here...you can too! Don't lose hope!

anyone notice that the song before speed of sound on the backspacer track listing is "supersonic?"
i'm guessing they realized this title redundancy and purposely put the tracks back to back.
or maybe the songs are related some how?
we'll find out in september i guess

they did a game where you could find 9 pieces of the artwork & put them in place. once you did that, you were able to download ev's demo version of "Speed of Sound". it sounds great.
