:-o, well lets show these fucks.

I always say, i rather eat my own ticket than sell it to a tout.

There will be no ticket eating for this show... can you even imagine?

I sold my spare MSG 1 about half an hour before the show at face value. The dude that bought it was offering me hundreds, and I just thought it ridiculous to do that to a fellow fan as the same could happen me one day. Sold it for face, I made his day, he bought me a drink and we rocked out! Lets try and do the same for all of us here!!

Well, both myself and the missus are on O2 and I've got a HMV pre-order on, so any spares will be offered to a couple of select friends before heading over here :D (assuming we manage to get tix in the first place!)

Yes, I have been to some Pearl Jam concerts. Several of them.

Like I said before I can't see why they can't do what Bob Dylan and The Who do for their small club shows: make it so only the person who bought the ticket (and their guest) can enter the venue. It completely and utterly stops touts buying up the tickets and it would be easy to do for a small venue like the Empire.

I suppose this could happen. We won't know until we know what the T&Cs of the actual tickets are.

actually it doesn't utterly stop it and considering the price those kind of shows command, the tout is still money in if they buy 2 and resell the one (then go out again).
But it limits it a bit sure.

I remember a bunch of people got turned away from the Astoria show because touts had been selling tickets stolen from the venue.

Yeah, it was quite a scene that day. They were checking all our tickets against a list of supposedly stolen tickets.

I remember a 'fracas' or two as well.....

Remember the guy that had come over from Germany just for the show and ended up beating the shit out of the tout that sold him a stolen ticket? I was talking to him in the queue for hours and when he found out he couldn't get in he was super pissed. He found the tout and started beating on him, he ended up getting arrested for it but (and I'm in no way condoning violence here) it was good to see the tout get what he deserved

So funny how valuble a piece of card can be, those tickets were gold dust, quite appropiate them being yellow too.

    Yep....

This upcoming gig has quite a buzz to it... Reminds us all of Astoria (well.. at least those who were there)....

Well, at Bob Dylan when you picked up the ticket they immediately wristbanded you and your guest. Only with a wristband and the ticket were you allowed in.
And at The Who you had to had to enter the venue the minute you picked up the ticket at the venue. The same with Tom Waits (his shows actually required you name your guest within a week of buying the tickets too).
So it did stop most of the touting. I remember checking eBay for those gigs and there were none on sale, highly unusual for bands with hardcore fan bases who can normally sell out arenas, don't you think?

Well I'll be dipped in dog shit! Just got in from work and saw this. Cancelled my O2 contract 2 weeks ago, doh!
Just pre-ordered the CD from HMV. I'll have a crack at getting tickets and if I get more than the 1 that I need, they can go to some deserving sole on the board.
I fear a rush of O2 customers buying them up just to make a killing on ebay. Sure hope the 10 club are gonna be selling these, I doubt it somehow. There are so many reasons that I should not be going to this show, but I'll worry about that if I'm lucky :D:D :?:

Guys its inevitable that touts will get a bucketload for this gig, those bastards have inside people I'm sure.

HMV has to be our only chance it would seem....lets hope they got a big enough allocation. Maybe they got the whole lot, I still hope tenclub got a good chunk too.

    Heres to hoping.

I desperately want to be at this gig.

How many of us are desperate enough to cave into the touts if the need arises? because that in itself makes sure the twats will be at the the gig the next time and the time after. Its a difficult one to combat as because we all want to be there we give them business

Speaking of MSG 1 drinks, those cups were too good not to steal!

this "system" totally works and it would be shame if PJ did not adopt this policy for any small club show
