I am surprised that you other guys don't know Jack's history.....
did you just start listening to him when his solo album came out?
He produced this Loretta Lynn record in the early 2000's.
He dedicated a record to her.
The WS used to cover Dolly Parton's "Jolene" on a regular basis.
I find this funny.

Jolene doesn't sound country to me at all IMO. I didn't even know that was a Dolly Parton song. Just because someone is a fan (and i consider myself a pretty big fan), it doesn't mean we automatically know every fine detail of everything the guy does or track every album dedication. I don't have time for that. There are a lot of artists who I'm a huge fan of. I wish I could know everything about all of them, but I just can't. My memory isn't even good enough to manage that even if i did have the time!

I have listened to JW for years. I've always been a fan ever since the first White Stripes album. But seriously, unless I was pouring through the entire TMR catalogue and tracking every little thing that JW does, why would I know he worked with Loretta Lynn or did anything with country 12 years ago or whatever? As a fan for many years, this is the first time it's ever come to my attention, so it couldn't have been THAT obvious.

But as I said, now I finally do know to be wary of hardcore country when it comes to Jack White, lol.

Just figured Vault members knew that it was a TMR Vault and not just Jack White stuff....
there is a reason he moved to Nashville. He is a huge rockabilly and country fan.
I actually quit because I got tired of all the low quality WS releases they were putting out.
The only other non-Jack related release I didn't care for was the one from his ex-wife.

the best were probably the Greenhornes "lost" EP and the Raconteur's live from the Grand Ole Opry. I might be partial though because I was at the show.

PS: PJ_Soul- he won't be putting out any David Allan Coe (hardcore country) releases anytime soon.

Of course I know it's not just JW for the Vault stuff. I know what every single vault release has been. Earlier in this thread I posted that I was hoping for a non-JW vault this time. I don't want them to always be JW, and agree that too much of it is JW related lately. I like variety. I simply didn't know TMR went so incredibly fucking country (no idea who David Allen Coe is!). Of course I am aware of that hint of country/Nashville twang - you couldn't listen to his music and not be aware of that. But this Loretta Lynn shit is a whole new level that I wasn't aware of. Stop being so surprised lolobugg, lol.

Actually Nashville now is a great city to visit. lot's of different music venues with great bands and great record stores.
