Are you going to organize a little gathering for us all ? August will be a great month
Your place avail Beck ???
I will bring beer and friends ???

Haha six hundred square feet suites just SCREAM for parties if I had a backyard it would work though. Although beer and PJ fans, how could that go wrong Is there a pub near there we can gather?
I'm fairly new to Calgary, but the venue is on the west edge of town, and most of the decent pubs are square in the centre of the city. I'm sure there are busses that make the trip out there, so something can be arranged.

Sweet! Looks like I'll be able to get my Pearl Jam fix this year! Calgary's my hometown, tho I'm living in Edmonton right now, this should be a great trip! I hope we get info about single day tickets before July 4th, I would go for a VIP pair for Saturday.
1. its a festival
2. already holding tickets to the tragically hip this night
3. more dates WILL happen in my area (my area being anywhere one the west coast)

So... my source that told me a few weeks ago about PJ playing Virgin Fest was right... and apparently he's hearing news of Beastie Boys on Sunday.... hmmmmmm.... wait and see I guess!
Oh, and for those of you wanting to camp... although there's no camping right on site, I've got my spot reserved at a campground called Calgary West... visit http://www.calgarycampground.com/services.htm I am going to call them tomorrow again and see if I can get a large group of sites closer together and possibly at a discounted rate... prices are a bit steep, but still way cheaper than a hotel! And it's only about a 10-15 minute walk to COP grounds (or a 5-10 minute drive depending on traffic) It's about 1km away... and one won't have to worry about parking/paying for parking or finding public transit... it looks like they have a shuttle bus too, I will check into that for anyone with walking issues.
SO stoked... only 38 days and about 15 hours left to go!!!!! Ahhh, how am I going to wait???

I'm in Edmonton, so this is pretty awesome, a short drive really.
I wonder if they're doing any other Canadian dates then? seems odd to just come up here for one show?
Seems odd, does it? lol. Everything about the shows in August seem odd. I can't see them adding anymore shows before the Calgary date - too short notice. And as for after Calgary, well, they have to be in Europe 5 days later, so I doubt they will add anything else ... you never know though...

I live in Edmonton too, my sister lives literally walking distance from COP so this will work out really well.
We are kinda broke right now, so $132 for tickets is steep, considering the only other band that might be cool is Metric. I HATE Billy talent, emo whiny slit my wrists because my mom made me do the dishes, all songs sound the same, crap.
The Bonnaroo show was amazing, based on the boot, does anyone have an idea how long of a show we might get?

I don't think I can skip a show thats only 3 hours a way. I also have a friend that lives in Calgary would would go, so its a place to crash at too.
I seriously thought I'd have to go to Vancouver or Missoula to see a show this year (the usual places that PJ plays). Having them play in calgary is pretty sweet.

At last year's V-Fest in Calgary, the Hip played for about an hour and a half on Saturday, and apparently the bands have to be done by 10pm this year:
"Doors open at 1:00pm with performances beginning at 2:00pm. Performances end at 10:00pm."
The headliners for the other cities are scheduled for an hour and a half to nearly 2 hours. I'm really hoping they understand the gravity of who's playing and give PJ a full 2 hours.....

The real question is...do I bite the bullet on a weekend pass eventhough I have no desire to see any other bands or wait and snag a single day ticket "in the upcoming weeks"? Would totally suck to miss out on this because I didn't buy a weekend pass....

I'm in the same dilemma, I don't know what to do :(
The only other act in the saturday line-up worth seeing is the Arkells.
They are the only band that compliments PJ in the saturday line-up. The rest are throwaways.
Had the pleasure of seeing and meeting the Arkells at the Big Music Fest in Wiarton, Ontario last weekend where they opened for Sam Roberts and the Tragically Hip. Will be seeing them again at Hillside Festival, Guelph, Ontario later in July.
They are good.

IMO every one of the other bands this year suck! What happened to the likes of The Hip and STP on the same day? I hope they announce better supporting acts then what they have listed!!
I live in Edmonton and love Pj but I'm not going to buy a weekend pass just to see them. Think I'll take my chances on a single day ticket when it gets released, that way I'll have money left over to see them on the west coast when more dates get announced

Just a heads up: I started a thread abotu a possible get together for the concert. I need to know if people wpould prefer a pre-show, post show, or day before get together. I know this is a festival and some people want in early, and will be front row center.
PM me, or head into the thread and let me know what you think. I'd love to pound something out for the local fans!
