It is great to see PJ returning to a Canadian city other than Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver. There are so many great fans and great cities across Canada that deserve more shows! I am really happy for all of the Calgary fans!

By the way, all the people who keeping saying that this is "great news for Canadians" realize how big Canada is right???

Congrats Calgary- keep those dates coming

on a side note- PJ is going to be doing some serious traveling in August.

Yeah, how about it? Start in Canada, go to Europe for 4 shows, then back to Canada, 2 shows in Chicago and then heading to the west coast. That's a crazy ass schedule.

I had heard from my cousin a few weeks ago that it was a possibility, but didn't think anything of it. He was actually the one that told me this morning and I told him he was full of shit since I came on here and there was nothing! Then, low and behold 20 minutes later, there's an announcement on 10C and I had to eat my words! So there were rumours somewhere, but not on here at all, which was surprising to me!

Checking out the other Saturday bands on YouTube and wow, I don't think I like any of them. And this comes from someone who owns about 1300 albums of many different genres. Hopefully, they get better after a few listens. Sunday, has a couple decent bands so it's too bad none of them are there for Saturday.

  • For anyone who likes hip hop at all, make sure to check out K-OS too. He's fucking awesome. I know there are some skeptical people on this board, but if you give it a chance, you won't be disappointed... I promise.

I'm already going to be in Europe by the time the 8th roles around, so I'll be missing out on it. If K-OS and Pearl Jam played a song together, I would be seriously jealous. They could definitely pull it off.

Check out this song with K-OS and Sam Roberts for proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNXtQVj8bHw

i wouldn't have believed it otherwise, but now that we've received official confirmation of a PJ stop in Calgary i'd expect that rumored Boise concert to happen either before or after the Calgary stop.

oh, and for what it's worth from someone who lives in Toronto: the members of Metric are really nice and good people (as are the rest of the members of Broken Social Scene for what it's worth), more than happy to have a drink and chat it up when spotted out and about. as for K-OS, yes the man has talent but he also comes with an ample amount of ego (not quite deserving yet IMO),...
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

It says they expect to put 35,000 people in COP:

I can't figure out where. I think this is going to be the clusterf@#k of the year. Can any other Calgarians here guess where they're going to put the stage???

This is about the most random thing I could have imagined for PJ this year. I still think I might be dreaming.....

It will certainly be interesting to see how the rest of the tour shapes up. Since the 10C did say that the plans were North Western US in the early fall, I still think what we'll get is those rumoured Seattle dates on Sept 22/23 to coincide with Backspacer's release, followed by other shows in the North West like Boise, Portland, Casper, Denver, SLC, etc. There would still be time for about 6 shows before ACL. I would guess California shows would then follow in early to mid October with hopefully some other places in the south getting shows.

then again, if there is one thing I have learned this year from Pear Jam it is that geography doesn't always dictate where two consecutive shows will be ... so we'll jsut have to wait and see!
