    PJ in '03 - $46.50 each
    PJ in '05 - $52.80 each
    PJ in '08 - $74 each
    PJ in '09 - $83 each
    PJ in '10 - $86.50 each

Ed in 2011 $94.50 in a venue that holds about 20,000 less people. Look at it this way Neil Young in the same venue was $270, $170, $85. $94.50 for the whole place is a bargain.

The days of PJ shows being under $100 each are almost over.

I don't care what the fees are. If my favorite acts are playing, I'm going. As long as Live Nation and Ticketmaster keep updating their servers and employing top notch IT folks, I'm fine with it. They do have to pay people to keep their sites running smoothly you know.

Are you mad at PJ for raising the cost of their shows from $45 to almost $90 over a 7 year span? Why would I care if Ticketmasters fees went up $5?

Do you consider wilco, mmj, green day or the foo fighters to be big name bands?

They play the same rooms and charge half what Ed and PJ do. I dont have an issue with what PJ charges, I gladly pay, but make no mistake, they have found the precise price point in between bands that deliberately keep prices really low and bands that charge really high prices.

Back in my day we could see Perry Como sing at the local speakeasy for a nickel!

And we had to walk there! Uphill! Both ways!

That's exactly how I feel. I've gotten front row for Green Day 3 times and only paid 50$ for the tickets each time. Not like it's relevant, but I actually got up on stage/sang last concert of theirs I went to. I'd have died if that were Pearl Jam.

without wishing to start a crazy argument about this, wilco and MMJ are surely not in the same bracket of bands?

green day are a circus act. and foo fighter are definitely not cheap to see in the UK.

I really have no problem paying the price to see Eddie or Pearl jam - i even trust (and yes im sure i will be called a fool for this) that this band would not charge more than they need to. Just my opinion, but i know that after seeing PJ I am on cloud nine for a week.....and its always £60 very well spent.

I could pop into town and get drunk for £60 and not remember much the next day and feel pretty terrible....so I know where Im more happy putting my £60.

sure thats slightly off topic. But really - things cost more these days. But im happy to pay for top notch quality

:lol: you all make me laugh.... we aussies cop 100+ for just about every artist that comes here..... i think pearl jam was 135-140 after fees through ticketmaster and i think it was a little bit more through 10C if you halved the price.... and we still payed more then what you are for Ed Ved even after fees and exchange rates.....

I use them to compare to Ed's solo shows. They play similar sized venues. I happen to agree that EV and PJ shows are worth it. But its clear that they charge more than many other bands that play the same size room.

pretty much the same. this year it is a little less because they are using their own ticketing system and because they are having festivals which hold 75,000 people. This past december when D&T toured it cost 110.00 plus fees to see them in Colorado.

I don't know what planet you are from but to sit close at a Green Day non festival concert will cost you close to $135 or 95 euro.

    http://greendaytickets2010.blogspot.com/

In fact their tickets at Gillette Stadium were $50 in '05 and PJ's were $52.50 that same year.

and no, FF, MMJ and Wilco are nowhere near PJ level. In fact they would all open for PJ if they ever played on the same bill.

Yes I am. They have raised their prices at a much higher and faster than their contemporaries. They won't play the south because they can't fill arenas charging their high asking price. As others have said...Green day, Foo Fighters,Muse, Radiohead....all PJ's contemporaries....have kept their prices affordable. Tom Petty, Neil Young, the Stones are not contemporaries.

They are fast approaching a time when they won't be selling out East and West coast shows if prices continue to rise. I don't really care that Ed is still charing what he did 2 years ago. It was too expensive IMO 2 years ago as well.

Standing ovation for this post. I agree 10000000%

They could deliberately keep prices low, and that is why I have to question what they charge nowadays.

ah sorry i didnt click with the ed ved comparison there.

I understand that the promotor and the venue set ticket pricing mainly and the artists receives a set fee... maybe its different in the states. I dont know enough about this to hold a constructive argument.

    on a different level...

But its a big bold and free world. people really dont have to go. I bet these dates sell out quickly....so its probably on the concept of market demand setting prices way too cheap. as i know for one, I would pay a lot to see Eddie solo. That would be one of the finest nights out i could wish for. $94? a bargain

You could argue they are already at that point. Seems to me tickets could be had pretty easily on the last couple of PJ mini-tours, except NY and Boston maybe.

Those are euro dates-always more expensive, last time green day played MSG the tickets were around $70 for the best seats and they offered $40 nose bleeds.
And as stated above, I was using MMJ and Wilco to compare to EV solo shows-larger bands that play the same venues and charge a lot less. The foos sell out MSG just as fast as PJ-possibly even two nights.
