Jeff's bass and Matt's bass drum are so much more impactful, I am stunned how much better it sounds. This was from the review, and did they deliver: The J55a drivers generate pure, accurate, extended bass and their superb clarity enables you to hear the truth from your music I got them for 24.95 off Ebay, best 24.95 I ever spent, the bass is amazing, I am going to listen to every Pearl Jam song this weekend and smoke some weed and really try to appreciate every song in a new way

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Closed-Back...could possibly be the best 100 dollars you'll ever spend on headphones, especially if you're listening to smaller sized mp3s on your phone or ipod or files streamed over the internet.
Don't get me wrong, vinyl or tape ( I like tape....) or a properly amplified high end CD player or....wait for it...wait for it...hi-bit rate FLAC are gonna sound pretty amazing too, The problem is, the more you listen, the more you'll end up spending.

Yeah I was always behind the times on the whole headphones thing but I got a good pair for the first three Zeppelin remasters and yes, they're worth every penny.

I actually used to say the phrase "fuck FLACs" when audiophiles would complain about compressed MP3s. This was in the early to mid 2000's. Sure I agreed that FLACs sounded better. But the files were so huge and back then, I didn't have nearly the storage space to I do now. Now, I've become everything I used to hate: a FLAC elitist. The songs on my iPhone are MP3s at 128kbps (for space reasons) but my computer and backup harddrive are filled with the highest quality FLACs I can find....whether it be reissues like Zeppeln's stuff or PJ's HD FLAC bootlegs.

I need to get a pair of cans but haven't had time to go the store where you can actually test out the floor models.
I don't want to buy another pair of headphones without testing them out - I wound up with this pair http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-on-ear-headphones-black/6614017.p?id=1218762299190&skuId=6614017 and I don't like them at all.

I'm gonna see if I test out Lolobug's recommendation http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/650058-REG/Sennheiser_HD_380PRO_HD_380_Pro_Circumaural.html
    or these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/49510-REG/Sony_MDR_7506_MDR_7506_Headphone.html

    I need folding/compact ones.

FWIW my Grado earbuds are phenomenal. But I have to stop using them for a while to determine if that's what's causing my ear problem. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/643524-REG/Grado_IGI_iGi_In_Ear_Stereo_Headphones.html

Selling my PJ Pono for $750. Sorry to momentarily hijack this thread but figured there might be someone here looking.

I love the thing but I'm too broke to justify owning it at the moment. PM me if interested. Thanks

tiki / Lolo...I've read some reviews that the music leaks out on some Sennheiser's (others around you can hear your music) do you guys have any issues?

I had a pair of 200 dollar open back Senns 7 or eight years ago and they were pretty fine. with the open backs you get a different type of sound, it's more open and spread out, some would say its better quality, including everyone around you. If you're listening loud (and who isn't?) your head becomes a giant trebely speaker. closed backs work much better on an airplane, or the subway. Open backs are great for your living room, plugged into your real amplifier, partaking with Hank perhaps.

Just my opinion but I'm not a huge fan of the noise cancelling headphones,

Lolo we gotta hang. I've got some big assed ears myself.
