maybe. I think many involved as workers now , wouldnt be able to meet whatever standards of health should/would be set, if such a thing would occur. There is no way that it wouldnt be regulated._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

let consenting adults do as consenting adults wish to do!
I think it is really sad if a woman thinks her body is the only thing she has to offer the world, but who is anyone else to tell her she cant make some bread based on supply and demand.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -
I know many sex trade workers and they have told me that the biggest risk with sex trade is that the laws prevent them from preforming their job are the laws in place. for a long time in Canada, things like brothels were illegal and that drove sex trade workers to do their job in less than safe places.
for me, i think sex trade should be legal and yes there has to be rules in place such as HIV testing and other STI testing.
I once was talking to a friend of mine and he told me that the reason sex trade is not legal is because politicians didn't want to look like they were encouraging this type of job.0 -
yeah i am sorry its a damned flip phone i am using and it sucks! I cant edit and double posts are coming and seldom going. Sincere apologies for the double posts yall!
I agree that illegality makes it much more dangerous!
I dont think sexually transmitted diseases should disqualify a person from sex work. Almost the opposite! We need to keep the herpes and HIV folks having sex with each other, and not the general public. Test them, register what they have, force them to "advertise" their ailments and jail them if they are caught misleading clients!Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -
why do you want to give people with herpes HIV? just joking. it just kindof reads like that.rgambs said:yeah i am sorry its a damned flip phone i am using and it sucks! I cant edit and double posts are coming and seldom going. Sincere apologies for the double posts yall!

I also don't think sti should disqualify someone from sex work but i do think they should be tested anyway for their own health and that of the other person.
at my work all my clients are HIV + and many are involved in the sex trade and they actually advertise on a website for HIV + people. of course not all of them do that.

yes exactly! Thats the smart way to go about it! If i had the herps or HIV i would want to have my fun without endangering anyone and legal, tested and regulated prostitution would provide that opportunity! Then you could begin down the road of prosecuting those who pass STI's along knowingly, which i feel should be classified as a violent crime.fife said:

in Canada right now the law states that any person who has HIV, fails to disclose the fact to their sexual partner, and does not take some sort of protective measure (such as condom use), is guilty of aggravated sexual assault.rgambs said:

I don't know. The one place in the US where it is legal is a hell hole once you get off the strip.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Yeah, I used to watch that HBO show - Cathouse? Looked a bit skeevy.Jason P said:I don't know. The one place in the US where it is legal is a hell hole once you get off the strip.
But I wonder if it were legal all over, the standards would be raised?
And yes, have it subjected to the same parameters of any other business (or business owner).
It'd generate revenue and free up much space in jails, not to mention court resources.0 -
Wow,an issue everyone agrees on and makes sense.Thats the governmental kiss of death all over it.So you know the tightly whitey crowd(who hypocritically patronizes these same escort/call girl buisness women)government wonks. Will spout religious reasoning and hyperbole for why its immoral and filthy.
Clean it up,Tax the shit out of the customer(they will still come a calling)let free enterprise expand it and legitimize it,make it safe.
Just think how many jail cells will empty and how many rapes and murders will not happen. The vice cops can actually do some work that is meaningful like sex trade and slavery, child porn and exploitation, etc.Regulated brothels with security and contraception and 401 k.
This issue along with pot seem to be the most common sense changes and clean ups we could do to help violence rates, imprisoment and taxation while people benefit and no one gets hurt.0 -
It is legal in Germany. They made a prostitution law in order to improve the situation of sex workers. The law helps them in regards to money claims and payment, "customer criticism" and social security (they can enter the social security system and get proper health care). There are regulations that they need to follow. They are not allowed to advertise themselves. There is an age rule and they are not allowed to do their job anywhere. There are neighbourhoods and areas where it is not allowed.
It is the oldest job in the world, it won't go away. So why not improve the legal situation of sex workers?

As long as the parties are consenting adults entering into a mutually beneficial contract, it should be legal. Keep the religious hangups out of the laws. Whether something is distasteful to an uninvolved 3rd party should have no bearing."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080

Don't mean to imply that you are the only one who wants this, but I am not sure why the gov't should benefit any more from this service than they do any other. It always bothers me a little bit when people believe things like prostitution and marijuana should be taxed heavily if they become legal. I used to sit on that side of the fence and have come to realize that they don't deserve to benefit from this or anything else they legalize more than other similar products simply because they legalized something there is demand for...Plus you said it yourself, the cost savings that could be realized should be enough of a motivator for the gov't to re-think the laws. Care to share why you think this should be taxed anymore than say the labor on an oil change?rr165892 said:Wow,an issue everyone agrees on and makes sense.Thats the governmental kiss of death all over it.So you know the tightly whitey crowd(who hypocritically patronizes these same escort/call girl buisness women)government wonks. Will spout religious reasoning and hyperbole for why its immoral and filthy.

Now if the gov't has to employ inspectors and licensing agencies I understand a small tax to help pay for those expenses, but it seems to me that existing health and business inspectors should be able to handle the added loads (no pun intended). There will be plenty of tax revenue simply from volume, no reason to treat these products any differently than other labor/service industries. The people doing the work should receive the vast majority of the money that is being paid out by the customer.

No, it shouldn't.0

Of course it should be legal.0

Unless Democrats inexplicably decide to use this issue as another round of ammo in their Republican “War on Women” strategy, it’s safe to say it will always be illegal.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

My stance on taxing it heavily is for a couple reasons. One you stated ,to get proper inspections and health checks, but my main reason is to entice those politicians who would oppose it.Trying to win them over with revenue I guess.I personally don't want any buisness person to pay more taxes, but if its that or no legality ,then I choose stiffer tariffs(no pun).mikepegg44 said:
