You know what's funny/ironic? We're talking about people being in power making decisions for a much larger group of people, that's pretty much what's gonna happen to the "Bring Pearl Jam to Israel" movement, the guy in charge is gonna be butt hurt from Eds words and shut it down and the rational thinking fans in Israel may never get a show.

People will interpret a meaning to suit their own agenda, it is, unfortunately, human nature, especially in people who hold extreme views, it's all about self justification. Sounded pretty generic to me and who in their right minds wouldn't want an end to war and suffering. Peace and peace of mind, sounds pretty good to me...

a rational person at the head of this movement would address the situation and change the movement to more of a positive PR one for the state of israel, not change his mind, say "screw you eddie", and end the movement because he can not take criticism of his government.

i am american and i have tons of friends from around the world. my government gets bashed every single day. i defend it sometimes, but other times i just have to agree because the criticisms are honest and true.

I dont get it. How can anyone that has followed the band be surpised by what Eddie said? To start interpreting it as anti-Israeli just sounds like paranoia to me. Ed doesn't like war, regardless of nationality.

Also, I was there and never thought he was talking about Isreal. Honestly, I thought it was US's involvement in Iraq (somewhere we shouldn't be).

All wars are one nation crossing into another's borders to take their land and resources. Whatever bs reason they say they doing it for, like protecting the world from bad guys or for "freedom" is just the cover so one nation can own what another nation has. Like the US crossing borders into Iraq...or the US crossing borders into Afghanistan to gain control of their poppy fields / production... that's why you go to war, to take what does not belong to you... but you need a good cover story to do that because the masses won't support blatant stealing... so they say there's a terrible tyrant killing his own people or ready to attack us... all wars are resource and land wars.

In theory a US citizen's tax dollars wouldn't be paying for Israeli bombs, they'd be paying for US bombs, the ones we drop on innocent children...like the depleted uranium bombs we dropped on Iraq... you should see the images of birth defects caused by depleted uranium in Iraq... it's quite disturbing.

all the things you listed, are generic actions of war.... two sides drop bombs on each other... one side goes and tries to take land that doesn't belong to them... leaders on both sides are looking for a reason to kill (it's war that's what you do in war...kill).... citizens of any country don't want to give up their tax money to drop bombs on children.

while perhaps seeing events happening with Israeli/Palestinian conflict in the news might have been a catalyst for his remarks... he was speaking in general terms about the elements of the world who seek war instead of peace regardless of what country they come from.

his comments were much boarder in scope then pertaining to a particular conflict... he's speaking about conflict in general...why fight and kill when you can make art and babies and go to work etc etc...

Eddie could mean ISIS as we did supply weapons to rebels in Syria and weapons we as taxpayers paid for in Iraq were seized and used on women and children. ISIS is the new evil crossing borders and seizing territory, forcing us @ some point to respond. The Israel / Palestinian thing has been going on forever. It was only a few years ago bodies we're being hung from bridges. Crossing borders ie ISIS is why Saudi Arabia has 30,000 troops on their border.

If that's the case, he needs to come out and say it. Pearl Jam fans have been one big family, all looking out for each other, and it really being all about the music. His comments the other night have created a divide in the fan base, which in turn, have really alienated the Jewish fan base. Back in the day, yeah, he'd go off on Bush and what not, but the tone of his voice seemed like so much vented hatred towards Israel, it's disturbing. My guess is that this will go by the wayside, but it really needs to be addressed.

Brad, I've seen the pics and have also seen the ones from syria, Iraq, and Palestine. Shits fucked up all over the world. But we're talking about Israel/Palestine. People can make all the excuses they want, in no way am I talking about u brad. It is what it is and eddies eyes say it all. He was angry and pissed. He called out Israel without actually saying Israel. This is bad and we'll see what happens. We'll see if he caves in and makes some sort of "mis spoke bullshit excuse" or if he says ya I said it and I stand by it. Maybe roger waters has something to do with this or maybe eddie actually deep down inside feels this way. And people we have to remember, this is a piece of land surrounded by Israel and is basically an "open" prison" if there's such a thing.
