The question you should be asking is, “does PJ require proof of citizenship when you pick up 10C tickets?” And, “is there a significant amount of 10C ticket fraud or is ID required in an effort to deter scalping?”

Not surprised that you don’t fully understand the issue.

umm, have you read the bill? heardcwhat is required?

does pj require a passport to pick up tix? in lieu of that do they require presenting an original birth certificate?

The SAVE Act requires voters to provide documentary proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, when registering to vote. This additional requirement aims to ensure that only eligible citizens can register and vote in federal elections, but it may create barriers for many eligible voters who lack easy access to these documents.
Overview of the SAVE America Act Requirements

The SAVE America Act introduces new requirements for voter registration and voting in federal elections. Here are the key components:
    Proof of Citizenship

Documentary Proof: Voters must provide proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote. Acceptable documents include:
            U.S. passport
Birth certificate (along with a valid photo ID)

    Identification at the Polls

Photo ID Requirement: Voters must show a valid photo ID when voting in person.
Mail-in Voting: For mail-in ballots, voters must include a copy of their photo ID or the last four digits of their Social Security number.

    Additional Considerations

Name Changes: Voters whose names do not match their citizenship documents may need to provide additional documentation, such as a marriage certificate.
Impact on Voter Registration: The act may complicate the voter registration process, especially for those who lack easy access to the required documents.

    Challenges for Specific Groups

Older Adults: Many older citizens may not have current identification or may face difficulties due to name changes or lost documents.
Married Women: A significant percentage of married women may lack documents that reflect their current legal name, complicating their ability to register.

These requirements aim to ensure that only eligible citizens can register and vote, but they may also create barriers for many eligible voters.

I’d love to see the outrage of approximately 28% of the 10C ticket lottery winners disenfranchised at the 10C ticket window or venue gate because they can’t provide proof of citizenship, particularly among ‘Muricans travelling to Europe or Europeans travelling to ‘Murica, except they’d be smart enough to stay home and not risk being denied entry or detained by ICE.

    Great question.

For the most part nothing. You would think, everyone has some sort of id for something, but in the US that is not the case. Because you need birth certificates, social security cards, 2 pieces of mail from a utilities provider or credit card company/bank proving your address, as well as a the time to get the id (if you can’t get the time off during work hours when they are open, they re open for a few on Saturdays). On top of that, they charge you money for it.

There’s a good portion of an Americans who don’t have those things or cannot get/afford those things. This also neglects all the micro changes that can happen that affects the things above (passports have their hoops to jump through for its application, people get married and change names so you need a new social security card, people move, etc)

so while it’s doable, it’s a process. The constitution guarantees the right to vote. It explicitly forbids a poll tax, which is charging for the right to vote, which is essentially what needing an id is.

On top of all of that, voter fraud is such a statistical insignificant occurrence that if done, is usually caught. All voter id laws set out to do is to prevent people from voting, not protect it.

on top of that this SAVE act doesn’t change any of the currently existing process, all it does is allow poll workers and states a loop hole to deny people the right to vote based on arbitrary circumstances.

The pithy take is conservative Americans have been made to believe that instead of reflecting that maybe their candidates or their positions on issues are sometimes unpopular, that fraud must be occurring preventing them from winning. Toss in The Other, you have an easy reason and a Scapegoat.

I have read so many voter fraud takes that I agree it seems so minute if it does happen.

I wouldn't mind the ID/citizenship showing for voting just so I never have to hear about this being an issue ever again.

If the GOP came out and said, “we understand there are financial and logistical barriers for certain citizens to obtain required identification, and we will put programs in places to help”, then I would feel like they have a good faith effort in the voter ID laws. The fact they don’t mention them, though, is evidence of their intentions IMO.

This has nothing to do with voter ID...it's suppression

This is a troll thread. Anyone with a brain larger than a pea can look up why there is opposition to this. The reasons for opposing it are valid and can suppress magat votes along with normal voters.

Here’s the pickle that Republicans are in though. Even if they said they would have good faith in getting people IDs to have the laws, I still wouldn’t believe they would follow through in good faith. Football has been pulled away too many times.

As long as they can get everyone who needs an ID one at no cost, with no hoops and the easiest of effort, I’m fine with it too.

I'm honestly surprised you do not have to show proof of ID to vote.  I am pretty aligned with requiring it.  I believe the support is there from the VAST majority of Americans.  Just implement it ... but from the mindset/goal of "We want people to be able to vote".  Making it easy to get what you need if you do not have it, or define an alternative solution for those rare cases where a driver's license, for example, is not easy to obtain.
