Pat is 66. Dave Grohl is turning 57 next Wednesday, when the Foo Fighters are playing that night in Los Angeles.

Yah, its kind odd.  Compared to some other bands (like U2, Metallica, GNR) PJ started kind of late in the game, being a bit past the midpoint of their 20's when they started up.

So many of these other bands were in their teens when they formed, been around a fair bit longer, but only a few years older.

Dave was still spring chicken when he joined Nirvana, early 20's kind of thing.  PJ's age kind throws you off a bit, just because they started up a bit later.

Kind of funny talking about being a little past 25, and calling that late, when it's still young. lol.

DAMMIT DAVE RESCHEDULE THE CANCELLED CANADIAN TOUR

I think that ship has sailed.   They were going to play here to a 7000 seater arena.  I was shocked when it got announced.   Some of the venue's on the tour were much smaller than what they would normally play.  I'm not entirely sure why they were going to do it, but I was stoked they were.

I think since the death of Taylor, they've morphed into more of a veteran act with a veteran touring schedule.   Less dates, bigger venues kind of thing. Instead of playing a 7000 seater here in Victoria they're playing a 50000 seater in Vancouver :(

Got tickets for the Sydney show this morning. That stadium is never cheap, but it’s the day after my 50th birthday and it’ll be our son’s first Foo show, so it’ll be worth it  :)

Listening to "Your Favorite Toy" gave me a headache..literally! The production is so bad I had to keep turning the volume down and it was still awful. The production on the other single "Asking For a Friend" is terrible too.
  • Foo Fighters parted ways with Josh Freese in May 2025; now, nine months later Dave Grohl has finally offered an explanation for the drummer's firing.
"We had Taylor Hawkins as our drummer for 25 years and, beyond being an amazing drummer, he was this incredible spirit," Grohl said in an interview with Apple Music. "He was this incredible human being and he was our brother. He was our best friend. So, continuing after Taylor was really complicated, not just for us, but for any drummer that was going to come in to, like, fill his shoes."
"With Josh Freese, Josh is a consummate professional. He has a storied career of playing with everyone from Michael Buble to The Offspring, he's had thousands of studio recordings. So he came in, we went out on tour, and we had such a blast. We had a great time. It was like a year-and-a-half of touring, the shows were great and we had a lot of fun. And, the last show that we did, I think it was in September 2024, we did our last show, and all stepped away from the band.
"In those six or seven months, as a band, we talked about what to do next, a new direction, and thought, 'Okay, let’s call Josh and let him know that we are going to move on with a different drummer.'
"We called, as a band, all of us called, it wasn't just me. Basically, we called Josh, and were like, 'Hey man, that was awesome. That was such a blast, thank you so much, but we are going to move on and find another drummer.'
"After that, we didn't make a press release, tweet anything or do interviews. We didn't say anything. Since then, there's been a lot of talk about it, but I think Josh said it best when he said that he didn’t feel our music really resonated with him, and that's really important."

This makes sense to me, and it doesn't make Dave sound like a dick at all. He just obviously felt that Josh wasn't the right fit, and Josh seemed to agree once he stepped away.

I just don't care for the Foos...White Limo and Stacked Actors are great songs. A few others are ok....the last few albums just seem forced. Lyrics are ridiculous.

    Not my thing

I got pit tickets for their Nashville show to see QOTSA

This might be the only chance to see 'A320' live again. Wish I could go.

Grohl annoys me to begin with, especially his behavior the last few years. His music is infinitely boring to me. Incredible drummer though. His answer is a non answer and kind of just puts it to a statement Josh made after he was already fired. What initially brought them to feel like they needed to go in a different direction? We don’t need an answer, but his statement really does nothing to clear it up. Just my opinion, maybe it’s my disdain for him that makes me unfairly feels this way
