I like chef reactions. His theme song is great. But sometimes throw some shit on a shingle. A little chipped beef or welsh rarebit never hurt anyone.0

Picked up my 14lb turkey at the farm this morning. Alive yesterday, but not today. One thing I forget every year. Fresh poultry smells like a farm. Now so does my car. And my hoodie. I think we may need to double the brine and the injection mix.0

I forced myself to only buy one pound of butter this year for Thanksgiving. Half the usual amount. For those that celebrate, I hope you all have a wonderful day with friends and family. I bought the pie, but everything else from scratch. Should be some pics to follow once the food coma wears off.0

You too^^
I think I used about 1# butter on my turkey! Spatchcocked it. Dry brined overnight. Cooking on grill since 9:30ish. A little white wine, oj. Herbs. Put some turnips and cut up onion in the pan. Gathered some hickory sticks to smoulder away.
Hardest part is to leave the lid closed. I'll peek at some point.
Love to you all0 -

That looks great! It is so nice out, we are doing the same. I like to see a little wood in there. My apple chips are soaking now and my bird in in the wet brine. We are eating a bit later than usual this year. I usually throw the bird right on the grill, but I am liking that pan idea. And I do not really put butter on the turkey, it all goes into the potatoes. I will start getting organized around 2-3. Dinner at 7.
Edit: New approach this year, if I serve the Turkey later, I will not be going back for seconds or thirds by 7pm. I am no spring Chicken (or Turkey).Post edited by Get_Right on0 -
