Sure we have classic outlets, but with less clicks, eyes and purchases than ever, and conversely more eyes on niche and modern media (IG, TikTok, podcasts, YT), what is the mainstream? When you have CBS news reaching 1 million of prime demographic viewers, where a podcast can hit just as many eyes, is the traditional "mainstream" media dead? Has it flipped? Or is it just media and NYT, NBCBSABCFox just basic AF now?Sure, go on 60 minutes, it’s still a top five (non NFL) rated show. Go on CNN and MSNBC.
But also go on Rogan and Fox News. Not just once, but repeatedly and often. And be nice and respectful.
it's great democrats had a big show this weekend, but it’s the same losing message over and over again…trump is evil. That failed twice. The one time they beat him is when they focused on his poor covid record. If not for Covid, they would have lost to him on 2020.
Mr Hayes is way off, all we heard about trump during Harris’ campaign was the 34 felony convictions, and most non democrats did not buy that message. When a DA creates a once in a lifetime charge to convert a misdemeanor into a felony, that makes his witch hunt shtick sound reasonable. Great way for Dems to lose credibility without realizing it.0 -
Losing message, except where it didn’t. Which was every time except twice. Granted both were presidential elections, but it’s almost as if maybe it’s not just one thing driving people’s decisions0
-
I think continually pointing out how Trump is bad is important. Not doing that normalizes everything he does and moves the Overton window.0

It’s worth pointing out, this is the heart of the argument,But one thing that tends to get lost in this discussion is that for all the failures of the Democratic Party in 2024, in narrow terms the Harris-Walz campaign’s message was actually an effective one. The campaign and its allied super PAC spent more money on advertising than any other presidential effort in history, and most of that was concentrated in the swing states. There, voters were less likely to defect to Mr. Trump than in nonswing states such as New Jersey, New York and California. And the message of those ads was in line with a lot of what many critics have suggested — focused on core economic issues and framed in populist terms, with Ms. Harris portrayed as an ally of the working class.
In other words, even though she lost, her core problem was not her message, however imperfect it might have been. It was an inability to get enough people to hear it, in spite of record-breaking advertising spending. If Mr. Trump had not run a single paid advertisement in the race, he almost surely would have dominated the single most important resource of our age: attention. Democrats need to win the attention contest in 2026 and beyond if they want to win back the country.
Looking at Trumps overall approval rating as well as his approval ratings on the major issues, people remember again that Trump is bad. Not pointing that out undercuts pointing out where he has failed.Post edited by Tim Simmons on0 -

* The following opinion is mine and mine alone and does not represent the views of my family, friends, government and/or my past, present or future employer. US Department of State: 1-888-407-4747.
Here are some snippets of platforms of current dem candidates running statewide for governor or senate, or Congress. Please identify which candidate, their state and their platform are RLD (radical left democrat). Also, bonus points if you can identify and name the litmus test.
1. to get corporate money out of politics, fight the growing concentration of wealth in our economy and politics, and guarantee healthcare, education, housing, and food as human rights consistent with FDR’s own Economic Bill of Rights.
2. is running for Governor to fully invest in public education, lower the cost of healthcare and housing, and bring a new generation of technology and green energy jobs to
3. to focus on concerns over early childhood education and childcare, as well as supporting workers’ rights, home care (especially for the elderly), criminal justice reform, and reproductive rights.
4. running on a concrete platform to fight oligarchy, break up business monopolies, take ambitious action on the climate and housing crises, establish postal banking, and expand, not cut, vital government services and programs that help working families.
5. take on Washington DC corruption and the greed of billionaire mega-donors (especially on the far-right) who influence the political process for their ends; not the American people’s.
6. campaign consists of a large emphasis on running on behalf of working people against Wall Street and the billionaire class, building upon his public education leadership but opposing school vouchers, and focusing on major reforms to XXXX’s healthcare system and the energy economy. Additionally, he also intends to address local issues in the state from XXXX’s water and cancer crises, to the opioid crisis, meatpacking workplace safety, and farm sector consolidation by large agribusinesses and factory farms.
7. A national leader on fishery management and energy policy, especially during her time in Congress, former Congresswoman would be a pivotal Senate recruit in XXXX having shown an ability to win over Trump voters over and over again in 2022 and 2024.
8. Long involved in politics, XXXX has become a national voice on issues like affordable housing, transit services, and comprehensive criminal justice and public safety reforms.
XXXX, a central figure behind the Green New Deal, may be on radar for a slightly different reason: high-profile endorsements for like-minded candidates in congressional races.
9. campaign includes a relentless focus on jobs, health, housing, education, and safety, and has earned endorsements from leaders like XXXX and XXXX among others.
10. on issues like agriculture, opioid addiction, healthcare expansion, support for veterans, student financial aid, and campaign finance reform, before taking office after a corruption scandal plagued the XXXX Administration. main campaign planks include universal healthcare, affordable child care for all, a fair and affordable economy for XXXX, and taking concrete action on the housing crisis.
11. running for Congress to continue work of taking on utility company price hikes, ensuring clean air and clean water for constituents, raising wages, expanding violence prevention programs, and enacting workplace protections for those on the job.
12. XXXX is well-known for bail reform policies, reproductive health advocacy, support for neighborhood schools, and healthcare policies that include the coverage of mental health services. XXXX is running for Congress to continue working on those kinds of economic justice policies.
13. a former political investigative reporter and social media commentator up until recently, XXXX also has lived experiences as a renter and as someone who lost health insurance for a year, having been a vocal voice on fighting corporate consolidation and power particularly.
Additionally, XXXX has become a reassuring voice in the fight against Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism alike as an American, and notably protested peacefully on behalf of immigrants even after being pushed and shoved to the ground by ICE this past month.
14. XXXX has called the situation in Gaza a genocide and backs among other things Medicare-for-All, environmental and climate justice, a higher minimum wage, and equal economic opportunity, and already earned the support of young Democratic groups like Justice Democrats and Leaders We Deserve.
15. despite extensive opposition from the XXXX Democratic establishment, becoming a major climate legislator and restorative justice leader is now campaigning to take on corporate greed and advance social justice in Washington DC.
Don’t listen to the pundits, listen to the candidates.
