Schumer is feckless and a terrible messenger, but also he telling the truth. I don’t get what else they can do than to state reality.

I like Schumer but I wish he would step aside and let someone else take over. We need a new face.

Yes, let’s judge a book by its color, or age. In addition to Chuck, let’s get “Ed” out. Similar experience level, and those poor poor hurting vocal folds. Let’s have some humanity here.. Time for someone else with a diverse face and youth to take over. For them both.  Let’s judge a book by its cover. Let’s forget things like skill and experience. (And the topic as well, intelligent strategy.)

maybe he should write an even stronger worded letter next time.

schumer can't even keep his own caucus in line. why am i not surprised???

OR, alternatively, the narrative is the democrats shut down the government, but a few did not. which is it?

3 members of Democratic caucus buck Schumer on government funding vote

    Alexander Bolton
    Wed, October 1, 2025

Three members of the Senate Democratic caucus broke with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) on Tuesday and voted for a House Republican-drafted bill to fund the government through Nov. 21, revealing divisions among Democrats about how aggressively to confront the Trump administration.

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), a member of the Senate Democratic leadership team, joined Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and Sen. Angus King (Maine), an independent who caucuses with Democrats, in voting for the GOP funding proposal.

The measure, which needed 60 votes to advance, failed 55-45.

Cortez Masto said she didn’t want to add to the difficulties of constituents already struggling with high costs and a slowing economy by risking a government shutdown.

“This administration doesn’t care about Nevadans, but I do. That’s why I cannot support a costly shutdown that would hurt Nevada families and hand even more power to this reckless administration,” she said in a statement.

She said a government shutdown would “force tens of thousands of Nevada military personnel, union members, law enforcement agents and military nurses to work without pay” and that it would throw hundreds of union contractors at the Nevada National Security Site and across her state out of work.

King called the vote to keep the government open one of the toughest of his Senate career.

“I just came from the Senate floor, where I took one of the most difficult votes I’ve taken since I’ve been in the Senate,” he said in a video statement. “Many feel that this was an opportunity to stand up to Donald Trump, to vote no and to fight back.

“The irony, the paradox is by shutting the government, we’re actually giving Trump more power. And that was why I voted yes. I did not want to hand Donald Trump and Russell Vought and Stephen Miller additional power to decimate the federal government,” he said, referring to the White House budget director and Trump’s senior domestic policy adviser, respectively.

Wasn’t the far left just complaining Schumer doesnt fight republicans hard enough? Holy freaking cow.

then three CENTRISTS who want him to cave to republicans, and he gets heat from the far left for not bending the knee to Rs?

talk about a movement that’s completely lost and doesnt know how to look for answers. Gotta live the far lost left.

The non-republican anti-Hillary sentiment that happened during the 2016 election was borderline delusional (the republican hate for her was purely delusional). I will never understand it. Hillary would have made an incredible president. She still would.

Hate for Hillary went back to about 10 minutes after she became a household name when Bill decided to run for President. That made me nervous...it had built up for so long that it was just part of who we were...conservatives, of course, but also moderates. 1991/1992 was a transitional time and I think America struggled with a potential First Lady that seemed independent and that she'd be able to thrive without her husband.

Once she started getting government roles (Senator and Sec of State), she earned some pushback for sure but ultimately, I don't think she was ever going to get beyond the hate that hit her so hard in the 1990s.

She was, in terms of job history, the most qualified candidate. But I was really nervous (and rightly so) not only about her being a woman but about how long hating her had just been part of our culture.

It was Hillary's role in heading up Bill's national healthcare task force to produce legislation for nationalized healthcare that drew the ire of the right. She was an unelected member of the executive branch crafting healthcare legislation. That, and some of the repubs remembered her role in the impeachment of Tricky Dick. Rodger Dodger Stoned had a hand in it as Tricky Dick was his hero (see the Nixon tattoo on his back for proof).

It’s unfortunate but these are the voters we have, not the voters we want. Until Dems learn that, they can’t win with candidates like Hilary. And it will get worse with the next census in five years.

It’s unfortunate, but as I’ve been demonstrating lately on the forum, the opportunities in America remain on the elite level globally, but unfortunately that benefit comes with some conservative baggage.

I could be wrong, but my recollection was it started more so when Bill put Hillary in charge of trying to get universal health care.  Some, as always, think it was about her being a woman.  I for sure think this was true for a minority of people.  Others didn't like an unelected person leading the effort....again I think it was a small portion.  Ultimately she was attached to a very divisive topic and I think that lead to most of it.

I personally think she is an extremely intelligent person that I disagreed with politically on many issues.  I also think she was smug as shit and didn;t have the personality for it to come off in a better manner (like her slimy husband did).

But again, in 2016 I think she was being way more open and really warning us all about Trump.  MOre democrats should have been eyes open at that time and went to vote AND voted for Hillary and not 3rd party.  Hell, I voted for her...I'm surprised there was anyone out there that was concerned about trump that couldn't suck up whatever they have against her to vote for the greater good.
