It’s actually worse for me today than yesterday 😭
I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.

I'm still in shock about this news. We'll see from the "more to follow" comment if he cares to share with us...but if it's as simple as retiring, he's more than earned it and I wish him all the best in his retirement :) Think about this: he was the drummer for Soundgarden AND Pearl Jam. How badass is that?
Granted, he doesn't owe us an explanation ( :D), but I'm sure at some point he'll speak more about this decision*. I don't imagine there's any great scandal or backstory... I genuinely think after 27 years, he's ready to be done, and who can blame him? I think we all agree he's earned this... It's been one hell of a run, and I'm grateful I was here for it.

*Proly not with Rolling Stone though.

    Well said!
Heck, I'm older than Matt and I've never had the same job for 27 years, let along one requiring that much energy.

Well done, MFC, and thanks for all the great music!

So sad. Will miss you Matt! This is the first year since 2012 that I haven’t seen a PJ show but I am so honored and grateful to have been able to witness your skill and love for music for so many years…all the best to you and your family! ❤️

It's weird. I know he's not the original member, but I remember going to the Oakland 2022 shows, and they put a massive effort into making those shows happen, and 1st one was actually quite good, because of overcoming the lack of Matt.  Still after the shows, I was like.. it's just not the same without Matt.   I guess he drummed so long he became an institution.

Best of luck to MC. An absolute beast.

I think Matt told the band a while ago, and I think they've already got a damn good idea who his replacement is. Perhaps already decided.

Thank you so much for being the glue of this band when they most needed it, MFC! Thank you for being the engine of this plane for 27 consecutive years! Take it easy, and enjoy your time with your loved ones! Even if you're feeling that you don't have much to say these days, we'll always cherish your musics (Skin Yard, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, Harrybu McCage, Hater, Tone Dogs, Matt Cameron, 3rd Secret, Ten Commandos, Wellwater Conspiracy, Drumgasm, Nighttime Boogie Association) :star:

The only complaint I have about how this went down is, they should have in my honest opinion let the fans know that the 2025 spring shows would be his last! I bet some folks would have done anything to have seen him one last time! After the MSG show in September I thought ok I’ll get another shot at seeing them again.

For myself, I don’t know if I would call it a complaint, but I 100% agree with you that I would have gone to another 2025 show! Just like you I figured I’d wait till they come back to the northeast.

I would have absolutely faced the wrath of my wife and taken it on the chin like a champ and done Barca 2 had I known that Europe would be off the menu for a while. My lads work experience could have taken the hit for a few days

I think it’s obvious Matt is going back to the makeup and sequins now that the cease and desist order has been lifted on his KISS band. Good for you Mr. Cameron for not giving up on your dreams.
Dennis Rodman stole my seat N1 @ PJ20.
U.S. Summer shows for the teachers, please.
I’m tired of driving to Chicago. Play Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, or Buffalo.

I can understand this sentiment, but I also understand and respect why they did it the way they did.

There's enough chaos around procuring tickets and merch as it is... I can't even imagine what a mess it would have been had they announced this was the last tour w/ MC.

& not for nothing, a farewell tour wouldn't be their style, especially Cameron's.

By not announcing before the last run, it just goes to show you his character and that he isn't seeking the limelight.

Agree it may well have been Matt who requested no announcement

Totally great points! I too understand and know exactly how this band does things with that being said I guess we can expect no farewell tour from the band when ever that happens or if it has already happened!

I *almost* didn't go to TOTD in Philadelphia back in 2016... lesson learned, if I can get there, I'm gonna get there.

I think it's more likely (as others have previously mentioned) that it was a "let's finish this tour and then give us your decision" type of thing.

Clearly there have been changes the last few years. Josh adding vocals, shorter set lists, short tours, less variety in the setlists (which means they aren't practicing)...my guess is that Matt just wants more family time and he doesn't like getting uprooted for albums, practice, tours, etc.
