I watched the plantation one and not understanding what’s going on?  I guess I need more context.

Woke to me means calling people out. Naming Karens. Enforcing rules that we as humans may not be able to adhere to in all situations. The only woke thing I care about is turn signals. Why have people stopped using their turn signals? Use your blinker!

It’s the explanation of the article posted in the next link. A man restored a slave gravesite on a plantation as a sign of respect for what came before him.

His explanation is basically what Woke was defined as before it was co-opted by conservatives as a lazy cynical catch all for “stuff i don’t like”.

Co-opting woke was a stroke of brilliance. Their old versions (e.g., snowflake, and political correctness, to an extent) were open to the very obvious retorts of how they're probably worse in terms of being offended/outraged by everything. So now they have a term that basically excuses all the whining snowflakery of MAGA because it's all about the perceived oversensitivity a narrow set of perceived political correctnesses. Now it's terrible to get upset about nazi salutes but it's normal to be outraged about "happy holidays."

It's just another dogwhistle like CRT, DEI, Trans, etc.
The writers at murdoch inc come up with this stuff to rile up the ignorant base.

Great time to remind everyone this is why they do their best to dismantle and discredit education in this country, so they can speak and appeal to people who can’t critically think. They want chum.

Using "woke" wasn't a good choice for them, because it wasn't used for everything, bust mostly targeting the over-the-top PC reaction to the current culture.
Like forcing so many diversity trainings in public schools. The reaction to the garage pull that was a noose in Nascar and calling in the FBI, and around that same time a ninja course in a public park was taken down because the rope handles looked too much like a noose. The harsh criticism for anyone who initially questioned Jussie Smollet when his story didn't make sense. That sort of thing. The textbook definition of "woke" has a positive appeal, so calling someone too woke wasn't a good strategy, they should have come up with another word.

What a strange tweet. The GOP loves Putin in no small part because he and his country are so un-woke.

I don't know, maybe there's an opporunity to label Hitler a woke war criminal and MAGA will start hating him again.

It was a good choice if you wanted the minimize what was motivating the original movement behind “Be/Stay Woke” and to weaponize some sort of catch all amorphous bastardization for people who had no understanding of a colloquialism.

But to your broader point, I do think it’s worth reflecting on why people were feeling so alarmed, where diversity trainings, sensitivity levels and and a gross lie were happening.

    kids. playing music.

Young musicians’ dreams were dashed when the U.S. Marine Band followed orders to cancel a concert featuring middle and high school students of color, a result of the Trump administration’s executive order banning DEI initiatives. 60 Minutes, Sunday.

Would it surprise you to learn that many are harmed by “DEI initiatives?”
