Trump is going to impose the tariffs, no doubt in my mind. It will then be a hostile several days/weeks as the retaliatory tariffs are issued in like while Trump's team spins it as a tool to bring those countries to the table on other things we want them to do. I really hope these other countries just give him the finger and make him cave. The only art of the deal he knows is to be a bully. He wields extreme actions with highly negative outcomes as negotiation tactics. It's reckless and costs us, the consumers, more than him and his cronies at the top.

I read once, way back in the sane-by-comparison first term, that he viewed deals as having winners and losers and that they can't really be mutually beneficial. Brilliant businessman.

Gas prices are everything to so many people; practically a barometer of the economy. If they go up because of this (will they?), they'll be rescinded quickly and this will just be another ham-handed thing he did that the bro-media spins as Biden's fault or untrue.

I think the Saudi's will do whatever favors they can for him as long as it is feasible. There is some corrupt fucking network between those people. Kushner can testify to that.

I'm not sure they can help him in the short term though. Seems like oil companies use whatever excuse they can to raise prices so it wouldn't surprise me.

Even it if means a trashed economy, further damage to the environment, greater disparity between the ultra rich and everyone else, and eventually their own loss of jobs and dealing with a lower standard of living, they will risk the very possibility that their hatred of progressives and insistence on "owning the libs" will lead to having much of our economy, environment, and world stability come crashing down.

They will see this line of thinking as "drama" or "over-reacting", and then when the shit hits the fan they will cry and weep and moan, but they will never admit they blew it for everyone. It's pretty amazing what people will give us just to "win".
