I will keep beating the hope drum for Summer shows in the US so that teachers can attend out of town shows without having to miss instruction time.
Do teachers realize that the rest of us need to take time off from work no matter when the show falls, summer or not?
Yes they do, however there is generally more flexibility in most other jobs to take time off. Not so much in education. The contract for her school district stipulates a certain of days of instruction that need to be fulfilled. Also she doesn't like taking instruction time away from her students. She teaches high school special education and many of her students will not engage with substitute teachers for a variety of reasons.

I’m not a teacher but I guess the difference is that most people can schedule vacation time to travel to shows at any time of year but teachers can’t book time off during the school year.

Anyone else now thinking the short US April/May leg may be it for this year?
I do suspect there will be more 2025 shows, but it’s really a question of where and when…

I feel like it’s unlikely they’ll do more US shows in May/June immediately after the first run of shows and that’s when they’d traditionally head to Europe. Do any of the guys have kids about to graduate? As that would be around then and it would make sense they don’t tour so they can be in attendance… it’s also not the best time for a S.America run due to Southern Hemisphere winter.  It certainly does feel like they’re taking a break in that window this year.

But from July/August onwards all we know for sure is that Ed needs to be in Dana Point in late September. Plenty of time for shows in the second half of 2025….
    We can but hope
Yep.  In the absence of any juicy rumours then hope is all we have...

And on that basis, in 2006 and 2009 they toured Europe in August and September.   Just saying...
Unless/until there's a year where there isn't at least one Pearl Jam member playing Ohana you always have to factor that into any prognostications
Yep agreed.  So using the East Coast/ballpark run of shows this year as a guide which ran from 22nd August - 17th September and there was a 10 day gap between Fenway 2 and Ohana - that does seems like there could potentially be something similar this year, whether PJ play at Ohana (could be unlikely in back to back years) or just Ed solo.

Ohana is likely to be the weekend of 26th-27th-28th September.

With what's going on in Southern California currently I would be very surprised if the whole band didn't play Ohana at the very least...possibly another show or two.

I get the sentiment, but I don't know...  Ohana is over 8 months away and that feels too far out to have an impact with the current LA fire relief efforts.  Plus I do think the Ohana organisers are sensitive to it being equally a small festival for locals as much as travelling PJ fans.  Nothing would surprise me, but if it was about the LA fires then some local bands like GnR or RHCP might make more sense as headliners than PJ??

I don’t know. Right now that seems like an obvious call because the fires are top of mind, but when the Ohana lineup is announced in April that will likely no longer be the case. It’s possible for sure of course, but more likely if the lineup were getting announced sooner than it usually has.

The fires might be top of mind in the media landscape right now, and they will certainly fall from view by April, but a) negotiations and plans are already underway (and guessing lots of it already finalized) and b) after the PNW, no other part of the country is as important to the band as SoCal. We'll be on their minds for a very, very long time.

They're talking about clean up taking 2-3 years, to say nothing of the rebuilding. There will be plenty impact left to make in eight months.

For Eddie in particular, San Diego holds a pretty special place in his life. They might not be a local band...and yes LA isn't San Diego, but I would think they'll 100% be looking at how they can help.

RHCP is a hard "not happening" because there's unresolved issues between John F. & Josh K. Every other member of each band is friendly with the other camp, except for them. As for GnR, the band as a whole is friends with Duff, but I don't believe that extends to Axl. So that's a no on them. Is either one within the realm of possibility? Yes, but it would be a long sit-down conversation in both instances & breaking of bread. Maybe this tragedy will be the agent for that?
In the meantime, more likely artists would include: Metallica, Miley Cyrus, Linkin Park, Pink (again), Beck (again), Haim (again), Queens of the Stone Age, Social Distortion, the reunited Rilo Kiley, X, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Public Enemy, Joan Jett, Weezer, Tool, The Go-Go's/Belinda Carlile, The Bangles/Susanna Hoffs, Body Count, Cypress Hill, L7, The Offspring, Bad Religion, among others.
And if not one of their bands, then solo sets from Duff, Tom Morello, Josh Homme, Henry Rollins, Dave Navarro & Stephen Perkins. Noteworthy: although Canadian, when Buffalo Springfield was active, they were based in L.A, (c'mon down, Uncle Neil)
P.S. would love to get Elton out of retirement for one night only...

i hope so.  i'd make the trip again for pj or neil.  sadly, we'll probably have 5 or 10 more natural disasters by then.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I love your solo set candidates, and while Neil can be tough to pin down, a make-up date would be most welcome!

Things definitely seem to be possible for later this year.

One thing I know is the 2024 tour rumor thread was locked due to no further 2024 rumors very shortly after the 2024 dates were announced. This thread.....not so much...

I’m not a teacher but I guess the difference is that most people can schedule vacation time to travel to shows at any time of year but teachers can’t book time off during the school year.
Yes!  My wife is a teacher and she doesn't have flexibility to take any substantial time off during the school year, you can't take days off before scheduled holiday breaks because of the contracts, and with having to create lesson plans when you do take a day off, it is a huge pain.

Or just go to a show in your town! They ain't at 11 in the morning lol.
Too bad they haven't been to Detroit in over 10 years.  I guess it would be nice if they came around more often

Yeah, I get 3 personal days to use. Anything after that I’m docked pay. And I’ve taken some workdays off to go see some shows, so docked a day’s pay.

I’m not complaining though, because my vacation schedule throughout the year is awesome! Just would be nice to have a U.S. tour coincide with vacation!
