WTF is this about needing an MLB acct to use your ticketmaster tickets at FENWAY?

If you’re not doing fan to fan and just have tickets through TM, you’re good right?

You'll still need to download the MLB Ballpark app to access the tickets on show day

I fully expect to have to buy new tickets when I get there. Chances of this actually going smooth feels close to 0%

And then there will be lawyers.

I get skittish about things like this because I see how it plays out at work. These decisions are sold and made by people with above average technical competence and don't take into account how many users will have below average or low technical competence.

So there will be a mountain of headaches even if everything goes smoothly which it often doesn't.

Unless there are details I'm missing or misunderstanding they have to ensure that 80,000 ticket holders understand their tickets will be available in a different app than many used to initially purchase them. And their accounts on both apps must have matching emails.

Just type the URL in, don't click on it, www.MLB.com/redsox/tickets/mobile

It's annoying but it is what it is.
Bad sign when they screw up the link in the initial email

No. The way it reads I assume they'll migrate over around 9/7 give or take.
The email provides instructions about how to load the tickets into your ballpark app (which doesn’t work for me), I didn’t read anything suggesting the tickets will all of a sudden show up there on their own after the deadline for fan to fan resale.

The link does not provide instructions on how to do that. It's a generic landing page about accessing Red Sox tickets in the Ballpark app.

(This is what I'm talking about.)

Add this to my list of reasons why I don't like concerts at baseball stadiums.
Play at venues that are designed for music only, or at worst, basketball/hockey arenas.  The Fenway/Wrigley novelty has worn off!!!

I spent way too long on the phone today with the Red Sox ticket office (ultimately said they can't help and referred me to Ticketmaster), and Ticketmaster support... Ticketmaster said that as long as you have it in your wallet it will work... even if that wallet ticket came from Ticketmaster and not the ballpark app... but do we really trust Ticketmaster?

Any updates on this? If you buy tickets through the 10 club lottery and ticketmaster process, do you need the major-league baseball app?

    No lol
  • I want to transfer my tickets to my friend but the transfer option is unavailable in TM and my tix are not showing up in Ballpark - which is where I believe they can be transferred. However with the 10 day lockout, they need to be there within 3 days. TM said contact Ballpark. Ballpark said contact Fenway Park “🦗”
anyone figured out a way to transfer without having to give someone my phone? (assuming the tix magically appear - which I am definitely not)

I think we'll know more after tomorrow. My understanding is once they are in the ballpark app, you can transfer them to anyone you want. But it's not entirely clear right now.
  • My Fenway tickets show on the Ticketmaster app when I go into My Events. However, when I click on "View Barcode", it totally kicks me out of the app. WTF?

Why do we think tickets will be transferable once they migrate over? Is there an indication somewhere of that? (Rooting of course for this to be true.)

I thought there was a carve out to the ban for Fenway. Or maybe I was confused by the name Fan to Fan Ticket Transfer, I mean c’mon?

wondering if both Fenway shows will be added tomorrow …?
