Again, I'm one of those people who will often say I don't care for synth music, but then something like this will come along that I like a lot, like Gary Numan and Tubeway Army's Replicas LP. This is a bit of a cheat here as it's actually from the late 70s, but I always think Replicas was a bit ahead of its time. My favorite some from that album is this one:

Here is a group I liked when I was younger. The Thompson Twins. Take me up. The harmonica is a nice hook.

Not a favorite, but pretty good. Back then, if I know they were from San Francisco I probably would have followed them more closely. Not sure how I missed that.

I lived the Crue at that time, my absolute favorite band. They are not good live, Vince always trash(ed)
Wish I'd seen them on Too Fast touring

Zen and New Day I know, but the fidelity was so awful on those- especially New Day- I never went further. Did that improve?

I highly recommend reading Corporate Rock Sucks. It is the story of SST Records (born out of a radio part catalog, music zine, and Black Flag). It has some interesting details about the status of those recordings.0 -

Mostly respect for them supporting bands that we might not ever have heard of if not for them willing to take the leap of faith to sign them on. But the sound quality of so many SST releases is really bad! Thanks for the book tip! I'm always eager to read a good book about music and musicians!"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
