            Sorry folks, I disagree with many of the sentiments here. I have a very revealing system and there is no material difference between this and the recent reissue. You can give this one maybe a 1/2 point better as it's a 45 and will play cleaner through the inner grooves. But let's be realistic, it should NOT sound materially better. This is the same mix by Bob Ludwig as the last release. And the last pressing was done by MPO who is a very good plant. The sound between the two should be, and is very close.
 I give VMP credit for a nice color vinyl and a very nice gatefold package. I don't know if they use Stoughton printing for the gatefold, but it sure looks to be at that level. So I think the price is quite fair for a double. It's about the same price that AP will charge for a AAA single release. But sound wise, it's right there with the reissue.0

            I found VMP steps above the last pressing, also had a better soundstage then the original pressing. I have a pretty good set up. The separation of instruments is more prominent. I played all three back to back last night, over all sound is subjective , it's a great pressing and the packaging is awesome , new pictures on sleeves , a red interior gatefold.  Not to get into an argument, but the fact that this release is on two records with new lacquers cut at 45rpm, there is bound to be an audible difference from the single disc release, regardless of master or mix.mrussel1 said:

Promise.I’ve listened to the VMP Yield three times now, swapping out styli for each listen. And I’ve spun the the first pressing and 2016 pressing.             The 45rpm is a definite step up. I have a mid-tier setup and can notice an improvement. Is it mind blowing? Probably not, but there's definitely more separation/dynamic range in the instruments. Everything sounds "fuller" given the more space given to each song, if that makes sense. One of the best improvements is the bass (Wishlist, especially). Sounds much fuller while not being overbearing. Same goes for all the guitars.Post edited by tylerj onChicago, Aug 24, 2009

 You'll note in my comment that I gave it a half point increase due to the 45, as the sound stayed consistent through the inner grooves. But to me, that's not material enough to say it's a much better release. It's a marginally better one and comes down to preference whether you want to get up once or three times during the listening session. I'm not sure why we think the lacquer cut from Levi and pressed by VMP would be materially better than Daniel Krieger and MPO. They are first rate. At the end of the day, it's the same BG mix from the same digital source. And unless the lacquer cut or pressing is a shit show, the mix and source is going to be where the sound is.bicyclejoe said:Yes.             I've been meaning to buy a good record player for about a decade now, but have spent thousands on records instead. I look forward to listening to this on my cheap - but effective - $100 Sony.0

 I think the pressing process carries more weight than that. There are countless albums that suffer from awful pressings, regardless of mix and master. Also, a pressing at 45rpm over two records is going to naturally have greater dynamic range to let the stylus do its work. All I can testify to is how it’s sounds on my system, and the VMP pressing sounds considerably better than the others.mrussel1 said:
