Was wondering myself where the Citizens Bank Park rumors started again. So this was great to clear up. The Citizens Bank Park rumors have been on and off for a few years now. They all started back in 2018 when they supposedly had two dates locked in but it didn’t pan out due to logistical reasons apparently. I hear from a few people who have close ties to the Phillies/Citizens Bank Park that this was true. But at the end of the day it’s all hearsay.leddead said:
Awesome. Thanks for the info. Fingers crossed!Go Animal said:leddead said:Hi everyone. I have not been following along with the rumors, as I hate getting my hopes up and then being disappointed. This is the first time that I have opened any of these threads in a long time, and the Citizens Bank Park June 1st and/or 3rd rumors have certainly caught my attention. Can anyone give me the history of where these rumors stem? Reliable source?
Not iron clad reliable, but one board member told me in private about them having 1 or 2 dates for CBP penciled in "after memorial day weekend"Not long after that another board member @The Juggler said June 3rd on this very thread, and seems to be quite certain lol.
But what really caught my eye, is that before Juggler posted that, I looked at availability for the 2 closest hotels to CPB, and they were already sold out on June 3rd.
SO, I booked a couple refundable hotel stays nearby & will now hope for the best!"If you're like me, then you know me"
2006: Camden 1
2008: Washington DC
2009: Philly 1, Philly 2, Philly 3, Philly 4
2013: Philly 1, Philly 2, Baltimore
2016: Philly 1, Philly 2,
2017: Temple of The Dog Philly 20 -
It's really cold that time of year to start off that tour. I figured theyd do south first then come North.Go Animal said:Go Animal said:Moving this from rumor to confirmed (unless Danny Wimmer Promotions & their social media crew are expertly trolling us, lol). All 2023 Leg 1 speculation from myself will have Sonic Temple as the penultimate show to build around, before the rumored Citizens Bank Park show(s).
Sticking with Sonic Temple, and mixing in the rumored 2020 Leg 2 dates in the Midwest, here's a potential road map:
Prospective 2023 Tour Leg 1, V.4 (aka "The Electric Slide")
1. Woodbury, MN - Xcel Center (last visit: 2014) or Minneapolis, MN - Target Center (ASM Global venue)
current open dates, Minn: 04/10 - 04/20, 04/22 - 05/02/23current open dates, St. Paul/Woodbury: 04/12 - 05/03/232. Milwaukee, WI - FiServ Forum (ASM Global venue)- I had a version of this that started in Seattle, then Missoula, then Sioux Falls, then here. But I don't think the band wants to do ACTUAL cross-country trekking, so I'm starting in Prince Country. C'mon, ASM venue, ready to go cover of Purple Rain?? No brainer.
current open dates: 04/11 - 05/03/23- Ah, Yieldwaukee. Hard to top, but it's the boys. They can pull it off.
3. Chicago, IL - United Center (more than one source said "no Wrigley" we'll see... 2 nights, regardless)
current open dates: 04/11 & 04/12, 04/14 - 04/27, 04/30 - 05/05/23- No Wrigley? Fine. But they'd be silly not to do 2 nights in Chi-town.
4. Detroit, MI - Pine Knob Music Theatre (originally DTE Energy Music Theatre) or Little Caesars Arena (basketball)current open dates, Pine Knob/DTE: all of April, first 2 weeks of Maycurrent open dates, Little Caesars: 04/11 & 04/12, 04/17, 04/19 & 04/20, 04/24 - 04/30, 05/01 - 05/08/23- repost: RIP Joe Louis Arena. The Motor City beckons! Side note: DTE?? Meant to be! Also, it's on BOB SEGER DR. C'MON, MAN.
5. Cleveland, OH - Progressive Field (ballpark!), or Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse (home of the Cavs)current open Progressive Field dates: 04/13 - 04/20, 04/27 - 05/04, 05/15 - 05/21/23current open Fieldhouse dates: 04/14 & 04/15, 04/17 - 05/11, 05/13 - 05/15, 05/17 - 05/22/23- Big demand for PJ in Ohio. While Toldeo has an ASM venue, I can see the band considering the former Indians' ballpark as a goodwill gesture for the team changing their name. So, this is my dark horse ballpark pick!
6. Pittsburgh, PA - PPG Paints Arena (Penguins), or Petersen Events Center (Pitt)current open dates, PPG: 04/20 - 05/12, 05/14 - 05/16, 05/18 - 05/25/23current open dates, Petersen: all of April, first 3 weeks of May (pretty much alternating with Blink 182 at this point)- I used to make these maps with little to no backtracking, but last year taught me they're gonna go wherever they damn well please, and write off the carbon miles lol.
7. Baltimore, MD - CFG Bank Arena (yes, that one), or Capital One Arena (DC)current open dates, Baltimore: 04/23 - 04/27, 05/01 - 05/08, 05/10 - 05/12, 05/15 - 05/24/23current open dates, DC: 04/22 - 05/19, 05/21 & 05/22/23- I used to make these maps with little to no backtracking, but last year taught me they're gonna go wherever they damn well please, and write off the carbon miles lol.
8. Charlottesville, VA - John Paul Jones Arena, ASM Globalcurrent open dates, John Paul Jones: all of April & May- Jeff loves a good, smaller venue. How about a nearby ASM arena? (no relation to the Led Zeppelin bassist, lol).
9. Lexington, KY - Rupp Arenacurrent open dates: 04/23 & 04/24, 04/26 - 04/28, 04/30 - 05/23/23- yeah, I know they hit Kentucky last year, but it's on the loop!
10. Cincinnati, OH - Heritage Bank Center (former US Bank Arena)current open dates: 04/24 - 04/28, 04/30 - 05/25/23- 3 shows in Ohio?? It's possible! (I have no dog in that hunt, lol)
- short break, as they do -11. Columbus, OH - Historic Crew Stadium (Sonic Temple Festival, May 25 - May 28th, 2023)
my best guess: Sat. 05/27, or Sun. 05/28/23- This is all but confirmed by DWP's social media. If I'm wrong, that's some expert trolling on their part, lol
12. Philadelphia, PA - Citizen's Bank Park (either playing June 3rd, or June 1st & 3rd)All together that's 12 cities (13, or 14 shows, if you play 2 in some areas). Room for more dates? Sure. But I'm trying to be realistic.
Again, every show is a gift.:end of Leg 1:Thoughts?0 -
You're right. I kinda reached with this one. Sonic Temple not happening is a sign I should stick with my Florida predictions 👍tempo_n_groove said:It's really cold that time of year to start off that tour. I figured theyd do south first then come North.

I see it as Josh knows the schedule the boys settled on, and planned his stuff around it with Andrew. Regardless, his stock went up DRAMATICALLY last year. He's the 7th man, now.jimjam1982 said:

99% sure PJ isn't playing a Citizens Bank on June 3rd. Ed Sheeran is playing at Lincoln Financial Field that night and no way they would have a show at both on the same night.0

Hell ya. He was fantastic on tour. He's a great musician so I'm sure he will be in demand is all.. Hope he can be on future tours just as an available type thing and not centered around itGo Animal said:
