I was fortunate enough to see Hawkins in concert three times (Foos, McCready & Friends, nhc) and each time he constantly grabbed my attention with his stage presence, musical talent, and fun he had performing whether singing or drumming.

Being on the rail in Big Sky watching him channel his inner-Diamond Dave during those Van Halen covers and then participating in an epic drum-off with Chad Smith…. truly unforgettable.

Definitely a sad day for rock fans everywhere. Thoughts with the Hawkins family and all his band mates and friends.
  • Fortunate to see the Foos last summer in Milwaukee. I’m really sad to hear this

Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Grateful to have seen the Foo a couple handful of times and to have been at Encore this past year and able to see NHC and then him close Encore out with Rockin' in the Free World!

Give the ones you love a hug or a call.

This is going to screw Dave up for a long long time. Reckon Foos are done and he'll take years. Obviously the family are the worst affected but those two were so close for so long. Hope the band and crew can get the hell out of there and be with their loved ones quick smart.

    This made me very sad.

His album Kota from 2016 is better than anything FF released since 2005. Worth a listen:

Found unresponsive in hotel room. So tragic for his wife, children, band mates, and friends.

Had to talk to my college roomie/best friend - they're "his Pearl Jam." Killed his whole night :(

So devastating, and I hope Dave can gather the strength to get through two friends in bands being gone. I feel awful for him. RIP, Taylor.

More than just the drummer to FF. Difficult to envisage them continuing after this. Utterly devastating.

Woke up to go to the bathroom and checked my phone. Saw this and just couldn’t go back to sleep. I feel so terrible for his family. The MSG gig last year was one of the best I’ve ever seen and now I can’t stop thinking about his son sitting behind his drum kit all
    night.
