Man, this is awful. He brought a ton of energy to FF shows and loved seeing them live. Wow

Really sad. First time I saw Foo Fighters in 96, Taylor played drums for Alanis Morisette at the same festival, you could see how good a drummer he was. I was really happy he joined Foo Fighters, he seemed the perfect fit. He had to be better than good to play in Dave's band. He and Dave's relationship seemed like they were best friends, close like brothers. Just about every Foo Fighters interview where it was more than Dave, it was Dave & Taylor. Always seemed to be having the time of their lives. Makes you think, got to live every day like it could be your last. I know Im pretty guilty of just existing some days...work, sleep, with one day blending into the next.
Sending love out to his family and friends.
    R.I.P Taylor

Saw the Foos announce this last night and was devastated. Taylor was my favorite rock drummer, I could listen and watch him play for hours. When they released wasting light and released that live studio video of them playing the whole album start to finish, I was in awe of his energy, power, and joy/enthusiasm. So sad for his family, his band, his fans. Glad I was lucky enough to see him perform. Gone way too soon, will be greatly missed

This is tough to even process
  • Dude was an amazing drummer and seemed like a good, FuN guy. I loved the story he told about his neighbor who introduced him to drums and basically told young Taylor Hawkins within 10 seconds of playing “dude, you’re a drummer!” I feel for his family and Dave and Pat Smear. No clue what happened but tragically losing a band mate twice in one lifetime fucking sucks. Rest in beats, Taylor.

Terribly sad news. As legendary of a drummer as he was, Taylor seemed to be that much better of a person. Another larger than life musician gone too soon. RIP

I never got into Foo Fighters because I've never been a big fan of Dave, but Taylor's was a name that was always popping up. Learned a few years ago that he had played with Alanis, then he was with Mike at Peak to Sky, then with NHC at Ohana, etc. By all accounts he was a great guy that people loved to be around and to make music with. Just a huge loss for this extended group of musicians and bands that we love.

Super sad. Such a fun guy to watch. So glad I got to see them live a few years back at Fenway.

This just sucks. It's the same awful, empty feeling as when Chris Cornell died. Your heart breaks for his family, and for Dave Grohl. Going through this once in a lifetime is unimaginable, but twice?

My first Foo Fighters show was in 2000 with the Chili Peppers. They were still only 3 albums in, but had plenty of material for a high energy rockin' show. Taylor was ELECTRIC on the kit.
During Everlong, which has that fast, hard-driving groove all throughout, you could see 2 guys sneaking around high above on the rafters.
It was none other than Flea & Chad Smith. And they had a cooler with them.
When it came time for the drum segue that brings you back into the 3rd arc of the song, they proceeded to DUMP the whole cooler, filled with ice water, all of over Taylor. From at least 20 ft. above.
He screamed, manic & wide-eyed in what seemed like a moment of pain, hilarity, and oddly, ecstasy.

He didn't miss a single beat.

    This is so sad.

Like many other posters on here, the first time I saw him drum was on the Jagged Little Pill tour.   I remember that being an amazing show at GM Place in Vancouver, then the next year i saw him drumming with the Foo Fighters at the UBC Student Rec Centre.   It was cool being able to see someone evolve their career like that.   Had the pleasure of seeing the Foo Fighters a few more times over the years.

What do you say?  Unexpected death of younger people sucks :(

I can’t imagine was Dave Grohl is going through. Someone online posted that first Dave was a drummer who lost his front man. Now he is a front man who lost his drummer 😢.
