not sure what the issue is with people not liking it....people are allowed opinions, and to express them. if someone not liking it ruins your experience, that's a you problem.

Unfortunately some people will always be stuck in 1993 and waiting for Ten or VS part 2. You can tell by all the Seinfeld memes.

After 4 listens, I don't love the production. Its a bit too glossy for my PJ tastes, but it may grow on me (and I am curious as to how a PJ album like that will sound - so I'm at least open to more of Watt behind the board). I think theres a pretty good record here, some songs hit harder than others. It will get some spins, but I don't know if it will be a favorite of mine.

If any of these songs make a PJ set, it has to be Brother the Cloud its the centerpiece of this album.

    First listen complete….

    Ignoring the three singles:

-Invincible is truly great.  Obviously some Peter Gabriel vibes there.  Definitely my favorite with The Dark close behind.

-Mrs Mills really stood out too.
-I thought “Try” was really fun.
-On My Way gave us some serious chills.

It’s a lot of different sounds but it all flows easily.  I think Ed took a ton of chances here and experimented with sounds we’ve never heard his voice sing along to.  Really listenable album.  I’ve always loved accessible PJ (I love Backspacer).  Really good album.

I get a chuckle when people say Ed’s voice sounds like shit. If you’ve never tried singing into a mic before, give it a shot and let me know how that works out for you. Lol

    I didn’t think it’s bad.  It’s changed though
adapting to realities of age, smoking or whatever, I still think his voice sounds really good.

It’s no different than people who expect every new album to be another Ten.  They also want him to sing the same exact way he did then too .  I would say the odds are near zero he could sing black the exact way he did at MTV unplugged today.  Doesn’t mean it won’t still sound great though

Agree 100%. Voice has clearly changed as expected for a dude approaching 60 that lived his lifestyle. Sounds great all things considered though

Not sure if it’s the production or what, but he sounds incredible on Earthling

I get a chuckle when people say an art print looks like shit. If you’ve never tried designing a concert poster before, give it a shot and let me know how that works out for you. Lol

^ Damn that’s some serious research to prove a point. Well done.

I think disliking one of several concert posters from a variety of artists (that I do not follow) is a different thing than saying the lead singer of the band you follow on a forum sounds shitty, but hey, what do I know.

Never takes much to prove someone a hypocrite, around these parts.

I dont like internet arguments, but point taken. Two different things to me, but if it’s hypocritical, so be it. Thank you for pointing it out.
