How long before Ed postpones his tour?

It’s a mess. There aren’t enough tests available as it is - so if entertainment starts needing tests that will only make the shortage worse. Plus, like 1/3 people are testing positive with this thing, and it’s not even clear if all the rapid tests pick up Omicron. I just think the timing is really bad for the February run.uglybabo said:
Yeah, I mean people are going to be like I’m not feeling great but it’s Eddie so I’ll go anyway. There’s a belief that broadway may be heading that way - not sure if it’s feasible on a large scale.PJ: 2013: London (ON); Buffalo; 2014: Cincinnati; 2016: Sunrise, Miami, Toronto 1-2, Wrigley 2; 2018: London (UK) 1, Milan, Padova, Sea 2, Wrigley 1-2, Fenway 1-2; 2021: SHN, Ohana, Ohana Encore 1-2; 2022: LA 1-2, Phx, Oak 1-2, Fresno, Copenhagen, Hyde Park 1-2; Quebec, Ottawa, Hamilton, Toronto; MSG, Camden, Nashville, Louisville, St. Louis, OKC; 2023: St. Paul 1-2, Chicago 1-2; Fort Worth 2; Austin 1-2; 2024: Vancouver 1-2, LV 1-2, LA 1-2, Napa, Barcelona 1-2; Indy; Chicago 1-2; MSG 1-2; Philly 2; Boston 2; Ohana 1-2; 2025: FL 1-2, ATL 1-2, Nash 1-2, Pit 1-2.

It's just as spreadable in a small venue then a big one, except there's less people overall. So in a theatre it'll max out at 2000 to 3000 people. It feels like governments are going to get stuck between a rock and a hard place. Omicron appears to be less severe, but it's hyper contagious, so even if a fraction of people that get it encounter problems, a fraction of a million people is still a significant number kind of thing.I dunno. I feel like our governments were truely concerned about it, they would of attempted to lock things down before Christmas. Everything we know now, we knew 3 or 4 weeks ago. Nothing really earth shattering has been revealed.I wonder if this is the moment where people are like, f 'it, we're done, and it rips resulting in most people having some kind of base line immunity to covid, through exposure, vaccines, or both. Thus limiting the severity for all time.I am guess though, if hospitals get overwhelmed, many places will have to do something to curb it.It seems like the EV/PJ camp might need to adjust how they plan things. Covid seems to come in waves and it seems like you get a short window to try and pull something off. If you wait a few months to see how it pans out, before announcing something, then the window closes on your tour. You need precision tactics like how the foo fighters, metallica, stones pulled off some shows or tours. As soon as it seems like things are easing, announce the dates, make them start really soon, and try to blow through the small amount of dates before shit hits the fan again.I'm still not sure when I'm at on this tour. I have seattle tickets, but no idea what crossing the border is going to be like next month 0 0

Would be interesting to see what another lockdown would look like. Just not sure the public would support it this time and that is one reason why we aren’t shutting down. Limiting event size is one thing, but going back to where we were in March and April of 2020 is not going to happen over Omicron. The public and businesses would never support it.0

At this point, it seems to be:
You have vaccine availability. If you don't get vaccinated and follow the guidelines...if you end up in the ICU, too fuckin' bad. You've been warned that the vast majority of ICU patients are unvaccinated and you chose to ignore the warnings. Sucks to be someone who needs the ICU spot for something that has nothing to do with Covid?Lost In Ohio said:At this point, it seems to be:

This tour will not happen in February if the promoter, not Vedder, feels that the odds are too low of them getting through it without crew or band members testing positive and disrupting it. It’s possible they could try and succeed like Guns N Roses and the Stones with no postponements or cases reported, but the odds of people catching it are much greater with Omicron. Our high ticket prices likely helped pay for insurance to cover postponement.THETONYCLIFTON said:Definitely not shutting down because it's only 2-3k capacity venues, just not enough people even with it being indoors, IMHO.0

Yeah. I actually am growing weary of the unvaccinated and am tempted to say "to hell with them" but there so many other ripple effects to doing this.NewfieintheUSA said:

I can't imagine these getting postponed/cancelled. There will likely always be a surge at some point or even new variants, and predicting the exact timing of them is next to impossible.
Most venues are also getting away from the negative test if your not vaccinated. For example, as of today, Auditorium Theatre changed its policy to this. Also, Tool changed one of my shows to this, where it previously showed one or the other.
There are a lot of events in January at some of these theaters. None have been canceled or postponed (yet, I know). Id imagine all these shows (not just EV) will go, unless the artist isn't comfortable. The venues have essentially removed liability by the health checks.

I’ll say it then, fu*k the unvaccinated. They have had more than enough to get their shot. They are selfish and causing this pandemic to spiral. There, I said it.F Me In The Brain said:

I'm fully vaxxed and boosted. Vaxxing has proven to not be the answer (ending the pandemic); in the beginning, "breakthrough" cases were said to be rare. Now, we're seeing they're anything but that. The only way out of this is herd immunity, one way or another.
Postponing shows is pointless, unless it's for the long term, because this virus isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.Post edited by SJD3232 on0
