Had great runs all week until today. I woke up really unmotivated to run. I often don't feel like running, but do it anyway and it is fine. But today was a real struggle. About 2 miles in I got a really bad cramp in my side. I had to keep stopping and walking it off. I also just felt low energy - I wasn't feeling the run at all. I finally stopped after 4.7 miles and called it a day. Because of the walking I was also not happy with my time. Oh well. It happens sometimes. I think I need a few rest days. My next run is Saturday, so hopefully I will be back up to speed.
Side cramps are just the worse! good for you for recognizing the time to call it quits for the days. Your body thanks you lol

Would side cramps be what we call here I. The UK 'stitch'? A pain in the rib area making it painful to breathe?

I'm really enjoying pressure free, beautiful autumn time running. 6 mile's was my longest this week. Around 8:30 pace nice and easy. Only 5 weeks until I'm running back on a training plan! This time it's all about back to backs and hills

Yes. We also call it a stitch here as well. But, they are the same thing. A pain in the side while running. It sounds like you have had a nice week, working up to your training plan. Hills, ugh! I had a much better run yesterday. Took today off, and will be back at it tomorrow. Glad to see you are all recovered from Covid.

Good updates, glad you backed off some M.
Today was the Philadelphia Marathon.  I made a point to not turn on the TV this morning but could not help looking at my watch and knowing about when I would have finished.  Grrrr.
Still have not followed up on the initial doc visit that I made last weekend.  X-ray showed knee to look ok but doc saw what he thinks is a stress fracture in my leg.  Meant to go to Ortho to see about the leg and to get referral needed for an MRI on my knee, which still is not great.
Hope to get in this week or next.  Since I know I can't be running right now I'm not in any rush.  I'm kind of concerned they might try to get me to stay off my feet, which can't happen right now for a few reasons.
Keep giving updates so I don't go mad.

Did you make it over to the Ortho yet? I hope your knee is doing better. Not much to report here. Status quo. I was at my parents' house for the Thanksgiving holiday. I did not feel like running the hills in their neighborhood, so I went over to by brother's place and used his treadmill. I got two good runs on it. It made me wish I had the room in my apartment to get my own. But the gym is only 3 blocks away, so I can deal with it. How is everyone else doing?

Do they have one that can turn into a bed?
Life in Manhattan doesn't allow for wasted space!
Good on you for getting the run in, regardless.

Finally went yesterday and have an MRI appointment tomorrow evening.
Ortho says he thinks there is no soft tissue damage but he thinks the tibia may have a stress fracture.
The urgent care doc said fibula.  Ortho says he thinks tibia, on the top/ back side.
MRI should set the record straight.  Been a month so if it is a stress fracture it should be well on its way to healing.

Fingers crossed that I'll be back out there soon!

Great news that there is no soft tissue damage. But I hope the stress fracture heals up soon. Good luck with the MRI tonight. Hopefully, you will be back to running those crazy miles soon.

5 weeks until I start training for the ultra tour of Arran. Tomorrow I'm racing a 5k Santa dash. Every runner gets a cheap Santa suit to run in. And from next week I need to start raising the minutes a bit

It's a Reebok one. I forget which model.. kind of mid range, didn't want to spend a fortune but it had to be good enough... Max speed of 16kmph and 12° incline so should do the trick. I have a new role at work which is keeping me a little later into the evenings so this is going to help me get my midweek runs in while the wife is working.

Yes!!  We need pictures of running Santa’s. I hope the suit is breathable when you run. Nice treadmill. I really want one, but my apartment will not allow for it. Let us know how you like the one you got. Good luck with the ultra training.

The race is organised by my uncle (of my 100 miler crew) he and his wife have a local running on club. He told me to be sure I wear something underneath as the suits are quite cheap and tend to come apart throughout the race.... So possibly quite breathable 😂

Placed 2nd in 20m30s... Quite happy with that time as I've done zero speed work for almost a year! Most of all it was good fun.. hot chocolate, mulled wine, warm sausage rolls and mince pies at the finish 🎄 it's beginning to look alot like Christmas.... (In a grey, wet English way)

Cute. Was it hard running in that snowman suit? Nice work for charity though. Good for you.
