    The whole point of this seems to make fun of people who chose not to get a vaccine and died from covid, and take other cheap shots while at it.

    That whole Al coholic and Ben Dover skit was originated with Red Doich and the Tube bar.  It was one of those tapes that you passed around.  That is where Matt Groeining got the idea from.
    I remember going on the ET ride as a kid at Universal. You’d tell them your name as you get on and ET says your name at the end. We’d always do that on the ride. You’d have to coordinate with a friend, one would be Ben and Dover. Or Stew and Pidassole

    It's a death cult. Literally.

    But it affects the rest of us, in a variety of ways. For example: the anti-vaxxers and Qnuts harassing school board members until they resign? The next step is the Qnuts run for school board because the non-crazy, non-masochistic people no longer want to have anything to do with such roles. They're in the minority, but since the rest of us don't want to try to out-crazy them, this is how it goes.

    We have to find a way to deal with such people. It's like dealing with a tantruming two-year-old: which techniques work best? Indulging them doesn't work, direct punishment doesn't work and reasoning with them doesn't work, because they aren't rational. My mother-in-law, who is brilliant at handling poorly-behaved small children without escalating things, probably would say "Okay, well, I'll just sit here and read my book and wait until you decide to settle down and put on your pants, and once you've done that, we can go to the park." The question is, how to translate that approach to larger humans and a larger scale.

    It’s certainly off the rails and it’s going to get way worse before it gets better, if it even does. Standing in a take-out line today and a group of students were talking and one of them was explaining how they were excited for their design a commune assignment because the world as they knew it was going to end in their lifetime. She then told all of them that they were always welcome but to bring their resources. I wanted to ask if I could join too but didn’t want to be that creepy person. Later on, someone came up to my car and asked if they could pray for me. End times indeed.

    I'm starting to think you peruse Urban Dictionary in your spare (all the) time. 
    I think it was about 2006 when we discovered UD at work.  Literally nothing go done for about 60 days until it was blocked.  It was a glorious 60 days.

    Cases are starting to peak, as the rate of increase has significantly slowed down, especially in the states where the current spike began, in western Missouri.

    All good news, but does this make any sense? It’s not like residents in the US are being cautious, or limiting indoor or stadium capacities, especially in the states with the highest per person case amounts. Delta is about twice as contagious as covid classic, so why wouldn’t the virus just keep peaking? I don’t think we have run out of unvaccinated people just yet?
