Been reading some of the detailed studies regarding the extremely low risk of transmission outdoors published this week. A lot of the doctors and scientific voices I’ve most respected over the past 18 months are speaking up. I believe the CDC will be making some major changes to their guidelines in the coming weeks. With that said my pessimism over shows in 2021 is turning a little. There’s still a lot of entities in this country, political and corporate who want to perpetuate this pandemic but common sense and science will at some point rule the day. In the meantime vax up and let’s make this happen!

Impossible. I was told they wouldn’t play this year by people here. PJ is too responsible for that.
Just an opinion dude. Have fun at your shows, even if it’s just Ed! 😀
My guy, please stop being so arrogantly pessimistic on all of your posts. I usually never do this, but damn man...nothing worse than a troll.
Not that he cannot fend for himself, but 2-feign-reluctance is absolutely not a troll. He, in my limited experience, has come across as a legitimately good dude.

You can be a good dude and still be a troll on the internet. I’m sure I’d love to have a beer with him at a show, just annoyed with all the “I know better than you” mentality on this forum. It’s not just him. I probably do it myself, but with a positive outlook.

Certainly feels like an arena tour this October-December has the potential in happening doesn't it?

The potential is there. Whether the band thinks so is another topic. Does anyone know what the NHL playoff arena capacity will be? If it's 100%, they could wait to see how that plays out, then make a decision.

Could do a small run of sheds or stadiums Oct - Nov, especially in the south due to weather if arena shows are a no go for them.

You are correct. I am not planning to see them, just overly excited to be done with checking news on if/when I can cross the border.

In Canada, it’s 0%.  First Toronto-Montreal series in 42 years and nobody will be there to see it.  Good job, powers that be.

We would be looking at the fall start up of the 2021-22 season though as a sign. March 11th (which was a long time ago it feels with the progress we have made) there was an article out that the NHL expected to be on time and back to fully normal for that season.  Also Canada is on track to have everyone double vaxxed by September still. I think arenas can happen this year. Will they? Who knows but it would be nice to get a wink that all they are looking to do is these two fests or a couple of more.

    Heya.

I live in Ontario. No way is this province going to have everybody double-vaxxed by Sept. I had my first dose 3 weeks ago and my #2 is in early August. There are loads of people who want one who are still waiting for dose #1.

High schools were just directed (last week) to plan the 21-22 school year with reduced cohorts for kids and only 2 classes a day.

It’s hard to imagine a packed Scotia Bank Arena in October.

I really hope in October I look really foolish having made this post.

I get it for sure with how it feels right now but with the US drying up on people that want the vaccine and us ramping up the number vaccinated daily I think we will get there by the end of September. Things change daily but as of right now that is the path forward.

Currently Ontario is vaccinating 1%  a day of adults 18 and over and sitting north of 50% with at least one shot.  It is very possible to have embody fully vaccinated by early September.

I would like to add that I also think 2 Feign Reluctance is not a troll.  He has been consistent in his position about the safety and wisdom of shows right now, which is a very fair perspective.  I have never considered any of his comments to be arrogant at all.  Just my opinion.

Everyone is dealing with this transitional time in their own way. Some are understandably adopting a cautious and skeptical outlook, others going for optimism and hope, most people probably finding somewhere in the middle. There’s no right way to be, except that we all have to give each other space & understanding to process what’s happened and what is happening.

Good article on Danny Clinch and his photography in today’s local paper.  He plays it close to the vest on the festival but his comments are encouraging…

Genesis is playing Madison Square Garden in December.
Phish is playing fall shows indoors, including 4 nights in Vegas for Halloween.

I've been fully vaccinated since 3/1 and am still extremely cautious and a bit anxious going out, but I'm ready to see some shows.

Pearl Jam can play if they want and feel comfortable, but they need to schedule some shows before every place they play is booked for the next year!

It's so weird. Here in Canada even if you are fully vaccinated they still tell us to wear a mask indoors & outdoors only in crowded places. In the USA if you get fully vaccinated, you have like superhero strength. You don't need no stinking masks. You can come up real close to a positive Covid person on a street, breathe in his Covid air & laugh at him repeatably.

2.68% of our population is full vaccinated. 35% of the US is. Its not even comparable for another couple of months.

2.68% of our population is full vaccinated. 35% of the US is. Its not even comparable for another couple of months.
It’s true but the government needs to start relaxing things for those who are fully vaccinated.  The 2.68% means about a million people are having freedom limited without any justification.

WASHINGTON (AP) — AP Source: CDC to issue guidance Thursday allowing fully vaccinated people to ditch masks indoors in many instances.

All I am saying is the US was not having this discussion when only 3% of its population was full vaxxed.  I am all for removing restrictions for fully vaccinated people in Canada and in the US.
