2020 Fall North American rumour thread

Been reading some of the detailed studies regarding the extremely low risk of transmission outdoors published this week. A lot of the doctors and scientific voices I’ve most respected over the past 18 months are speaking up. I believe the CDC will be making some major changes to their guidelines in the coming weeks. With that said my pessimism over shows in 2021 is turning a little. There’s still a lot of entities in this country, political and corporate who want to perpetuate this pandemic but common sense and science will at some point rule the day. In the meantime vax up and let’s make this happen!06/22/95, 11/04/95, 11/15/97, 07/16/98, 10/30/99, 10/30/00, 10/31/00, 10/20/01, 10/21/01, 12/08/02, 06/01/03, 06/06/03, 10/25/03, 10/26/03, 09/28/04, 03/18/05, 09/01/05, 07/15/06, 07/16/06, 07/18/06, 07/22/06, 07/23/06, 10/21/06, 10/22/06, 08/28/09, 09/21/09, 09/22/09, 05/20/10, 05/21/10, 10/24/10, 11/26/13, 12/06/13, 06/28/14, 10/26/14, 07/10/18, 08/10/18, 10/02/21,0

You can be a good dude and still be a troll on the internet. I’m sure I’d love to have a beer with him at a show, just annoyed with all the “I know better than you” mentality on this forum. It’s not just him. I probably do it myself, but with a positive outlook.darwinstheory said:

I thought they postponed the tour with Toad and Gin Blossoms to next summer?kaw753 said:I don't want to get anyone too excited, but the Barenaked Ladies don't think there will be an issue crossing the border in July. Some notice went out from somewhere because Phish, Rise Against, Eric Church, and a whole lot more went out today starting very soon.

Certainly feels like an arena tour this October-December has the potential in happening doesn't it?0
-
The potential is there. Whether the band thinks so is another topic. Does anyone know what the NHL playoff arena capacity will be? If it's 100%, they could wait to see how that plays out, then make a decision.PJNB said:Certainly feels like an arena tour this October-December has the potential in happening doesn't it?
Could do a small run of sheds or stadiums Oct - Nov, especially in the south due to weather if arena shows are a no go for them.0 -
You are correct. I am not planning to see them, just overly excited to be done with checking news on if/when I can cross the border.darthvedder said:

In Canada, it’s 0%. First Toronto-Montreal series in 42 years and nobody will be there to see it. Good job, powers that be.lmckenney24 said:

76ers are expected to have full crowds by June 12 for playoff games (assuming we manage to remain in the playoffs). Starting out at 10,000 fans - about half capacity.lmckenney24 said:

We would be looking at the fall start up of the 2021-22 season though as a sign. March 11th (which was a long time ago it feels with the progress we have made) there was an article out that the NHL expected to be on time and back to fully normal for that season. Also Canada is on track to have everyone double vaxxed by September still. I think arenas can happen this year. Will they? Who knows but it would be nice to get a wink that all they are looking to do is these two fests or a couple of more.RatherStarved said:

I live in Ontario. No way is this province going to have everybody double-vaxxed by Sept. I had my first dose 3 weeks ago and my #2 is in early August. There are loads of people who want one who are still waiting for dose #1.High schools were just directed (last week) to plan the 21-22 school year with reduced cohorts for kids and only 2 classes a day.
It’s hard to imagine a packed Scotia Bank Arena in October.
I really hope in October I look really foolish having made this post.Barrie, Ontario (August 05, 1992); Toronto, Ontario (August 18, 1993); Toronto, Ontario (October 05, 2000); Buffalo, New York (May 02, 2003); Toronto, Ontario (May 09, 2006); Toronto, Ontario (May 10, 2006); Toronto, Ontario (August 21, 2009); Buffalo, New York (May 10, 2010); Toronto, Ontario (September 11, 2011); Toronto, Ontario (September 12, 2011); Toronto 1 (May 10, 2016); Toronto 2 (May 12, 2016); Ottawa (September 3, 2022); Hamilton (September 6, 2022); Toronto (September 8, 2022)0 -
I get it for sure with how it feels right now but with the US drying up on people that want the vaccine and us ramping up the number vaccinated daily I think we will get there by the end of September. Things change daily but as of right now that is the path forward.PeterED said:

Currently Ontario is vaccinating 1% a day of adults 18 and over and sitting north of 50% with at least one shot. It is very possible to have embody fully vaccinated by early September.1996.....Toronto

I would like to add that I also think 2 Feign Reluctance is not a troll. He has been consistent in his position about the safety and wisdom of shows right now, which is a very fair perspective. I have never considered any of his comments to be arrogant at all. Everyone is dealing with this transitional time in their own way. Some are understandably adopting a cautious and skeptical outlook, others going for optimism and hope, most people probably finding somewhere in the middle. There’s no right way to be, except that we all have to give each other space & understanding to process what’s happened and what is happening.Camden 2 2006, Newark 2010, Barclays 2 2013, Central Park 2015, MSG 2 2016, Wrigley 1 2016, Rome 2018, Prague 2018, Asbury Park 2021, EV & Earthlings NYC 1 2022, MSG 2022, Louisville 2022, Dublin 2024, MSG 1 2024, MSG 2 20240

Good article on Danny Clinch and his photography in today’s local paper. He plays it close to the vest on the festival but his comments are encouraging…
