Finished this one today. It's a BYOC Envelope Filter/Fixed Wah. It's my understanding that the circuit is a modified version of the old DOD 440 Envelope Filter.

It is insane right now. Sweetwater has 1 model of Gibson les Paul on their site. This is pandemic related as demand is high and production was slowed.

As I learn more about the guitar market it is interesting that guitars are flipped just like we do with posters. Just at much higher dollars.

Well, I got a call from the Sweetwater rep, and he said that he expects the pedals to be restocked by late March. So I guess, for now, I don't have to look on the secondary market.

Side note: I dig Sweetwater and all, but they call me after every order I place. It's a level of customer service that borders on irksome.

Major delay in my mini delay delivery. It's now looking like next year. Guess I wait -- that is, unless anyone here has a Red Witch mini Violetta Delay with which they wish to part....

I ordered a Gibson SJ200 from Sweetwater back in October. Was told December, then January, then February, and then told the standard model is discontinued. So, now I have been told June for the original model and I am sure it will probably be November or something like that.

I would prefer to buy from one or two stores online but tough to do that if you want something now.

i bought a holeyboard 1-2-3 board and a walrus audio pedal board power supply yesterday. both have shipped, so it looks like i will have a nice little pedal board project to take care of this weekend.

also, saw a king of tone on facebook marketplace about midnight last night. guy wanted only $500 for it. i tried to purchase it this morning and it was already sold. they are going for over $800 to $1000 on reverb now. i guess if you snooze, you lose. damn it.

Just ordered a Jam Pedals Harmonious Monk Harmonic Tremelo Pedal and Browne Amplification Protein Overdrive which is a dual drive based on a Bluesbreaker and Nobles overdrive.

This one is a Boss CE-2 Analog Chorus clone. It is a kit from BYOC.

It nails the Wall-era Gilmour lead tone when paired with my Big Muff clone. Really pleased with how this thing sounds. Super low noise floor too.

Have you done the Mutron Octave clone? Aka the Hey Hey MyMy sounding pedal? I’m thinking of jumping in and trying one of those.

I haven't. Sounds cool though!

If you're just starting out, the BYOC kits are pretty great. They have detailed instructions and it's like doing paint by numbers.

No need to know how to read a schematic unless you have to troubleshoot a non-working pedal.

The PCBs are really solid and components are all really good.

i put my holeyboard together yesterday. what a pain in the ass. the patch cable ends did not fit through most of the holes on the board, so it is not as clean and pretty on the top as i would like. also, it was hard to retrieve the ends of the zip ties through some of the smaller holes. had to use needle nose pliers, which were too big sometimes.

i put the power supply on first, which made it difficult to zip tie some of the pedals on the angled back deck. if i had to do it over again i probably would have installed the power supply last. i was wiring the pedals as i went, so that made for a mess of cables everywhere. also as you can see in the coming pics, the pedals did not have convenient places to attach the zip ties. either pedal control knobs or pedal toggle switches were in the way. especially on the blue note, tumnus, and boss tuner. the underside of the board is a clusterfuck of cables, so i need to clean that up. otherwise it is kind of a cool setup. pedals are on there securely and everything sounds good not being daisy chained together. it was just more of a pain than i expected.

how it ended. not sure what else i want to add. have room for one more on the top left. probably need a modulation of some sort. i plan to replace that flashback delay and trembletank reverb/tremolo at some point.

It's kind of a big job to set up a proper pedal board. Since mine are pretty well dialed in, I am hesitant to buy any more pedals so I don't have to take everything apart and start over.

Mine are Pedaltrains and they're pretty straightforward, but cable routing is always tedious.

Not familiar with Holey Board. Pretty cool and interesting design!

I always start with pedal placement, then guitar signal cable routing, then aux routing(expression or fave type switches...all on top of the board. Then work on the underside starts with any concessions to the previous approach, then power last. Usually takes me an afternoon and I’m pretty anal about neatness.

i just got some velcro cable ties and cleaned up the bottom around the power supply. i thought i really enjoyed making boards at one time. then this process made me remember that i am a "set it and forget it" kind of guy. i like tinkering with new sounds and new pedals, but when i find what sounds decent to me i am pretty much done with it as soon as something is on my board, lol.

the holey board is a cool concept. the original ones were wooden and curved so was more ergonomic when doing the pedal dance. it made everything easier to reach because of the curved pedal board. that version would not accommodate velcro because it was wooden so the velcro would not stick. the metal one i have can use zip ties or velcro. i opted for zip ties because it seems easier than velcro. turns out i like how easy velcro is to apply. the zip ties are kind of a pain because you have to line the pedals up with the holes to get the zip ties to go through. unfortunately in this experience the holes rarely lined up with the best place to zip tie the pedals. advantage of putting the pedals on goes to velcro. but in my experience, over time the velcro wears out and pedals start falling off. will not have that issue with the zip ties.

if you like building boards i would recommend this. just realize that it is not as easy of a system as it seems. lots of trial and error. i should have planned it out better before digging in. i will know better for next time i ever build one of these.

i will definitely try it in this order next time.

anybody that has ever jammed with me and seen my prior boards knows that neatness is not a thing for me. my boards usually look like a nightmare to the casual observer, but i knew exactly what cable goes to what pedal, haha. this is definitely the cleanest board i have ever had, and i am starting to get used to it.

This bad boy came today. Haven't had a chance to plug it in yet but will try to write a short review this week. Will test it through my mesa boogie California tweed.
