MLB announced yesterday that they expect to be able to have stadiums at full capacity midway through the season.   That may not happen, but they would not say that flippantly, they talk to people who know about stuff.

It’s fantastic to see things moving along so well in the US and UK.

I am planning to be there. The band should book some amphitheater dates in SoCal, PHX, etc and use those in place of the arena shows.

Here in Vegas, the casinos are open, the bars are open.... everything pretty much except the nightclubs. The highways are backed with people coming in from LA every weekend.

It does seem so crazy to read Calif, one of Covid's most restricted states, is planning to be fully open June 15. Meanwhile us Canadians, of which I am sure there must be a good number coming down to Ohana, are locking down more and more. Great for USA, horrible for us. Our vaccine rollout has been a disaster to date. Plan is it will pick up exponentially the next two months, and if so, border could open before Ohana. Fingers crossed because if Ohana happens and us Canadians can't go would be just brutal.

OK back to my planning. Who wants to help? Currently booked a hotel near-ish to the shuttle but am now considering cancelling for a similarly priced airbnb on the balboa peninsula. I figured that this is closer to the santa ana airport, and we can uber to and from the festival. Does this make more sense? If anyone wants to be a saint and PM me to discuss/help it would be greatly appreciated :)

I usually go with airbnb or vrbo but went with a hotel this time just because of the uncertainty.  Cancellation with those is more difficult than hotel.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

This was my thinking in booking a hotel...I can cancel within 24 hours of my check in time.  I have been bitten once with the AirBNB setup...it works for me with vacations but not concert situations that are so fluid...

So confused. One moment, optimistic to hear CA lifting their restrictions, but then I see Ontario now imposing an new 4 week stay at home order.  Then you hear about the increased availability of the vaccine in the States one day, but the next you hear warnings about a 4th wave.  Trying to remain hopeful, but just so much conflicting information out there.

That being said, haven't cancelled my hotel reservation yet ....

Ohana will be decided one way or the other long before my hotel cancellation deadline.

It’s definitely more than politics.  I’ve been mainly optimistic about these fall shows taking place.  Tonight is the least optimistic I’ve felt in months, as surges keep happening.  Trying to keep the faith...

I sure hope this happens in September. This was top on the list right up there with two LA shows and the SD show.  If we get any one of those 4 before end of year, I will be grateful. Fingers crossed and anxiously awaiting the update from the band and Tenclub.

I imagine by August / September outdoor events like this in size will be going ahead. Any indoor concerts in California in September I think will be postponed or cancelled.

is it reasonable/possible to get an uber to/from Ohana from the Newport beach area? Google shows it at about a 30-40min ride, just wasn't sure if this would be consider easy to do or not for show travel?

Also considering the Laguna area...same question as above?

either option will work. Just a matter of distance to the venue. Your good!

Not sure if it helps, but the Seahorse Resort in San Clemente has availability. Stayed here for Ohana in 2018, it was very nice. about 5-10 minutes from the Shuttle.

I’m fully ticketed and booked, however no more than 50% confident it will happen.
