    The hypocrisy is a virtue for today's GOP. 
    I never liked Al Gore because of Tipper.  I never forgave her for the PMRC backing.

    So to think that Al and his wife later on were "progressives" to me was a joke.
    I hated it too, but at the end of the day the rating system that came from that is fine with me.  We've been living with it for years and I use with my children. 
    I was asked to produce an ID to buy an album at a store.  I never purchased from them again.

    If I didn't like it then in my teens, I wouldn't expect my kids to like it either.

    Anyway you look at it I don't care for them and think they are frauds.

    I don't use ratings systems much. I just try to screen movies for my kids. 

    There is absolutely zero reason The Matrix should be rated R. It's fairly bloodless. There's a helluva lot more violence in a Star Wars or Marvel movie (in which entire planets and their inhabitants are destroyed). The only thing my wife and I could figure out was maybe the BDSM nature of some of the costume choices, but that's just dumb.

    Meanwhile, The Journey of Natty Gann (rated G) has "fuck" in it about 5 times in a 10-second scene. Poltergeist was rated PG, and a dude peels his face off in the sink.

    As for music, not so much. I screen nothing. My eight-year-old has lead vocals on "TNT" for his School of Rock class, which is a hilarious thing to see and hear. Also, I play whatever the fuck I want to play as loud as I feel like playing it at home. If their delicate sensibilities are offended, then they can go the fuck outside.     This is pretty shocking to learn that this is rated R. I would've bet my life that it's PG-13. And PG-13 wasn't introduced until the summer 1984. If there was still only PG and R in the 90's, I'd have The Matrix as PG.

    I work in a mid size company.  For those, you ahve to be able to be an executive one hour, a project manager the next, and grunt the hour after that.  In my experience, it's consultants that meet the definition of what you are describing.  You certainly had your total hands off people, but they often didn't last that long.  I did see a lot of senior people that got recruited out by a vendor to be an executive at a supplier.  They start with a senior job, get moved to "business development" when they struggle.. and then they are out within a few years.

    It's just a bunch of electronic music centered around pre teen popular video games, like Minecraft, Fortnight, etc.  It's pretty awful.

    Matrix is rated R? WTF. I basically forced my 14 and 11 year old daughters to watch it with me, knowing at least the teen would love it (big sci-fi/fantasy buff). there is absolutely nothing in that movie that should be restricted.

    I'm not a minor nor a transitioning person so I'm not sure if that is the right thing to do or not?

    Is it doing more harm than good?

    They should have unlimited access to psychology/psychiatric care though as I know the suicide rate among them is really high. So I would say in the short that it is a bad idea to deny them anything.
