why are conservatives to consistently bad at humour/sarcasm?
because they constantly punch down on people.

comedy is only funny when people punch up. that is why it is funny when we dunk on huckabee, trump, gaetz, et al and it is never ever funny when they dunk on other people.

trump was kind of funny when he tried to dunk on kim jong un, but then he got beautiful letters and never tried to dunk on him again. lateral dunks are funny half of the time.
i think that's part of it.....I just don't find most of them funny, no matter which direction they are punching.
I’ve often wondered why conservatives are less funny. And I think the punching down thing is part of it.  I also think right wing policies and right wingers are easy to be cynical about. When they are sucking up to dictators, attacking voting rights, shitting on the environment, and blowing racist dog-whistles, and doing so with such hypocrisy, pointing it out with a little sarcasm and cynicism is enough. When the right tries to do it with living wages, environmental protection, and affordable housing, it is hard to be cynical about such things.  You can only say “see how socialist they are?” So many times before it is no longer funny.

I don’t think the left is funnier.  I think they have an easier job.

What's the point of getting into politics if you can't have corporations throw money at you to fulfill their every wish?
However, the realignment continues.  The party of capital and GDP is becoming the Democratic party.  Personally, I'm fine with that because these are the worlds in which I live.  The question is how does the C-suite respond to the groundswell of pressure it feels from its employees on these social justice and other economic issues.  So far, I see the ground moving.  The Republicans like to claim that its the media and twitter that is doing all of the pressuring, but that's only partially true.  The employees are driving much of the pressure.  This is why some more astute R commentators have taken to calling us the "managerial class", which is a derisive name.

I don't use ratings systems much. I just try to screen movies for my kids.

There is absolutely zero reason The Matrix should be rated R. It's fairly bloodless. There's a helluva lot more violence in a Star Wars or Marvel movie (in which entire planets and their inhabitants are destroyed). The only thing my wife and I could figure out was maybe the BDSM nature of some of the costume choices, but that's just dumb.

Meanwhile, The Journey of Natty Gann (rated G) has "fuck" in it about 5 times in a 10-second scene. Poltergeist was rated PG, and a dude peels his face off in the sink.

As for music, not so much. I screen nothing. My eight-year-old has lead vocals on "TNT" for his School of Rock class, which is a hilarious thing to see and hear. Also, I play whatever the fuck I want to play as loud as I feel like playing it at home. If their delicate sensibilities are offended, then they can go the fuck outside. They do complain about hip hop. Little bitches.

This is pretty shocking to learn that this is rated R. I would've bet my life that it's PG-13. And PG-13 wasn't introduced until the summer 1984. If there was still only PG and R in the 90's, I'd have The Matrix as PG.

Professional.  Basically all of the emails that are cc: that no one has ever seen set foot on a project or have anything to do with actual work but somehow get 5 weeks paid vacation and performance bonuses.  It’s obviously a bit of hyperbole, but for some it strikes the mark.   I would like to think you aren’t that guy.

I work in a mid size company.  For those, you ahve to be able to be an executive one hour, a project manager the next, and grunt the hour after that.  In my experience, it's consultants that meet the definition of what you are describing.  You certainly had your total hands off people, but they often didn't last that long.  I did see a lot of senior people that got recruited out by a vendor to be an executive at a supplier.  They start with a senior job, get moved to "business development" when they struggle.. and then they are out within a few years.

I wouldn't like it either, but there are lots of things I didn't like as a teen that I like now.  I don't mind ratings on video games and movies.  I'm a little more ambivalent on music, but that's mostly because my kids by and large listen to my music, except my youngest daughter who basically listens to minecraft music.

It's just a bunch of electronic music centered around pre teen popular video games, like Minecraft, Fortnight, etc.  It's pretty awful.

I'm not a minor nor a transitioning person so I'm not sure if that is the right thing to do or not?

Is it doing more harm than good?

They should have unlimited access to psychology/psychiatric care though as I know the suicide rate among them is really high. So I would say in the short that it is a bad idea to deny them anything.
