Do the roughly 200 who just voted to protect trump realize a woman had to be killed by police to save their lives? Do they really think if that mob got through they would have stopped to figure out if they were R or D before killing them?
The arguments I heard were that the actions of the mob were not the fault of the Don. They have not been presented with any evidence to his guilt or complicity. Everyone condemned the rioters, but then many blamed it on the "left" for encouraging the protests and riots this past summer. A few stated that some dems should have been held accountable for the summer riots. They then argued that the dems held up covid relief for months, but are willing to push through impeachment in a week for political gain and revenge.

Trump....twice within a just over a year. For the first one, I was on the side of “What’s the point of it if it won’t lead to a conviction?” But I’ve changed my mind. It’s good that such a disgrace (TWO impeachments??) would be the lasting legacy of Trump’s presidency. Might be the only way to contextualize it for future generations.
It'll be interesting in 2 1/2 years when the Republicans regain the house and Senate and vote to impeach Biden for (insert whatever reason they can find here). This impeachment proves nothing and basically is worthless because it's still 95% democrats voting on it. It just proves the political system is fucked and that we can expect this back and forth bullshit to continue. Over 100 reps voted against Biden's electoral win last week. This country is a disaster and the same things we're saying about Trump are what the new Trumplicans will be saying about Biden, only it will sound batshit to us. There's no reasoning with people who are that far gone.
