I think we will see a lot of Trump in the next few years due to the large amount of money he owes banks, specifically Deutsche bank. He will need to keep fleecing his followers for money to pay them back by getting them to contribute to his reelection campaign, political PAC or the new political party that he is rumored to be trying to start. He isn't going anywhere.
He'll play a few rounds of golf, then start marketing 'Patriot Party' merchandise.

We won't be seeing him in the White House or on Twitter, so it's a good start.
That is true, except I think you will still see his garbage being shared across all platforms. The guy is like herpes, he will never quite go away.
Best of luck to him, his bullshit will be much easier to ignore after today.
I kinda think impeachment is an exercise in futility. I’m OK if just the SDoNY, the IRS and various aggrieved parties go after his crooked ass.

I agree Hannity or Tucker would probably make a big deal if it was reversed. But it didn't seem like a big deal to me, mostly because at that level I would assume there are a lot of connections, there's only so many lawyers who would handle cases at that level and it would be next to impossible to find one who has no connections to your circle or party in some way. You're not going to hire a rookie for a presidential impeachment, they probably have worked for congress and senators. So if all Graham did was pass along a name and say give this guy a call (which is what it sounds like), that is not to be unexpected to me. As to your example with Clinton, I was a little curious. I expected some inner connections at that level, it can't be avoided. The first name that popped up when I googled "Clinton Impeachment Lawyer" was Charles Ruff. A quick read through his Wikipedia page you can see he had previously defended 2 senators, one was currently active during Clinton's impeachment trial. As a result I'm sure he met more throughout his career. I would imagine if I bothered to spend more than a few minutes reading into this, most lawyers involved with the impeachment probably had connections with politicians and senators. Like I said, you're not going to be asked to be the defense of the president if you haven't already tried hi profile cases and made some connections to begin with.

If they convict & then vote that he can never hold office again, that’s something worth pursuing. Maybe they don’t have the votes at the moment, but maybe more details come out, like that article I just linked.
AP source: Lawmakers threatened ahead of impeachment trial
By MICHAEL BALSAMO

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal law enforcement officials are examining a number of threats aimed at members of Congress as the second trial of former President Donald Trump nears, including ominous chatter about killing legislators or attacking them outside of the U.S. Capitol, a U.S. official told The Associated Press.
The threats, and concerns that armed protesters could return to sack the Capitol anew, have prompted the U.S. Capitol Police and other federal law enforcement to insist thousands of National Guard troops remain in Washington as the Senate moves forward with plans for Trump's trial, the official said.
The shocking insurrection at the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob prompted federal officials to rethink security in and around its landmarks, resulting in an unprecedented lockdown for Biden's inauguration. Though the event went off without any problems and armed protests around the country did not materialize, the threats to lawmakers ahead of Trump's trial exemplified the continued potential for danger.
Similar to those intercepted by investigators ahead of Biden’s inauguration, the threats that law enforcement agents are tracking vary in specificity and credibility, said the official, who had been briefed on the matter. Mainly posted online and in chat groups, the messages have included plots to attack members of Congress during travel to and from the Capitol complex during the trial, according to the official.
The official was not authorized to not discuss an ongoing investigation publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.
Law enforcement officials are already starting to plan for the possibility of armed protesters returning to the nation's capital when Trump’s Senate trial on a charge of inciting a violent insurrection begins the week of Feb. 8. It would be the first impeachment trial of a former U.S. president.

About 0% chance. This is like the supreme court pick before the election. Rules only apply when it favors them. If it was a democrat, republicans would be all over this.
Needing 17 (I believe it is) Republican senate votes to make this happen. What are the chances?
Correct. Sixty seven in the senate and 290 in the house is 2/3.
Thanks for verification, McG. What do you suppose the chances are?
I think republicans want to take their party back from Trump and move on so I m going 50/50.
Very true for some. The only way I see it happening is if as a group they want to stop Trump from running 3rd party and splitting the GOP vote in 2024. If that threat is real they will vote to impeach/block him for future runs. I still think that will not happen and most of the Repub senators would be ok with another Trump run if the odds looked good he could beat Biden.
So let's assume the long shot happens and the Senate votes to impeach Trump and he is not able to run for POTUS again. We still may very well have Donald Jr. to contend with, correct?

A majority of Americans want to see POOTWH impeached. It needs to happen and the repubs need to grow a set and follow through, third party and primary challenges be damned. Lindsey Flimsy Flip Flop Faloozy's, Crud's, Randy's and Rube's explanations to the contrary are ridiculous. Get them on record for defending that POS. Again.

Thousands of Trump’s supporters descended on the Capitol on Jan. 6 as Congress met to certify Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential race. More than 800 are believed to have made their way into the Capitol during the violent siege, pushing past overwhelmed police officers. The Capitol police said they planned for a free speech protest, not a riot, and were caught off-guard despite intelligence the rally would descend into a riot. Five people died in the melee, including a Capitol police officer who was struck in the head with a fire extinguisher.
