    I mean that she's a woman of color.  That's all I meant. She's also a bit of an unknown. Yeah, she kind of has a bit of a "cool factor" (particularly compared to the other three codgers), but as you point out, she never really gained a lot of traction in the primaries. And finally, I think it would bug people to have to choose someone that was never meant to be at the top of the ticket.

    My gut reaction was to say "now offer to debate from two separate places."  But he has to be more sensitive to potential symptoms that Trump may get.

    Oh, I think she's going to carve him up at the debate...but I don't think a fairly unknown woman of color getting bumped up to the top of the ticket would fare well in the election.  Thankfully, Joe tested negative.

    Another vulnerability for her is her time as California DA where she locked up a lot of people (mostly black) for marijuana charges, and fought to keep nonviolent offenders locked up. Trump has done the opposite, commuting a few thousand sentences of nonviolent offenders (likely for political reasons, but still). Another one is Harris tweeting support of that "Freedom Fund" that was meant to help "protesters" during the George Floyd riots get bail. There may be more to it than that, but Pence will likely point to it as evidence that she's willing to put people in jail for marijuana, yet wants to help rioters and looters. Some fuel for his inevitable "radial left" talking points. 

    Pence has the unenviable task of trying to defend Trump, which his impossible at times. But at this point, everyone knows how shitty Trump is so Pence will just spout some time-filling bullshit before getting back on the offensive. Really, it's Harris that will be "on trail" here, so to speak. So like you said, slight advantage to Pence, but I don't know how much VP debates even matter. Though Harris and Pence will probably come off more competent than Biden and Trump (because they are), so that may register with some voters.

    I just think she's sharper and quicker than he is.  True, Pence is above the "Trump Bar" but I don't think he has much personality and I think he'll wilt a bit if she gets pointed...her role will be to put him on the spot but don't do anything to get labeled in ways that women tend to get labeled ("nasty" or too emotional).

    As for those issues, they seem like a wash.  I think she'll be better-able to articulate why the "S" word isn't a big issue.  Not to mention that issues are hardly even important.

    Yeah I just think she will handle herself real well. She's a prosecutor. I thought she did real well in the debates last year too.
