i'm not sure where people are getting that the crowd was dead.....especially since ed at one pointed out that the berkeley 2 crowd was great but we were a bit better.....i know everyone around me was having a blast0

I was there. I have so many thoughts on this. I am sure this will be very disjointed. I only slept a few hours last night and am working right now, but I really want to give this the attention it deserves.
Starting with the pre-party. I can't express enough how generous and awesome the Pearl Jam community is. For you people who were at Dargan's beforehand, I was the guy in the black shirt whose girlfriend did not have a ticket to the show. That is actually part of the story.
Rewind to a few weeks ago. I got locked out of each and every pre-sale. However, when the TM pre-sale came on, a guy by the name of ballbag bought a ticket for the sole purpose of selling it at face value to a fellow PJ fan on the message board. By doing that, he got me in the door.
My girlfriend, who is awesome, went up with me yesterday so that I could not worry about driving back. I have a tendency of falling asleep at the wheel when I am tired. Anyway, so at Dargan's yesterday, we met a couple from Long Beach. (I am sorry, I forgot your names. I am bad with names). Anyway, I mentioned to them the fact that my girlfriend did not have a ticket because we were looking at the raffle prizes, one of which was a ticket to the show.
So I bought 8 raffle tickets and let her ride. I did not win the ticket. BUT I won 50 DVDs. Holy crap! I was so stoked. So THEN the person who won the ticket, giventofly34, comes up to my girlfriend and says "You don't have a ticket? Have fun." And gives my girlfriend the ticket!
At this point, we were thanking her profusely and I said. "Can I give you anything? Some of these DVD's? Can I buy you beer? Can I buy you merchandise at the show?" She just smiles and says "Have fun."
How fucking awesome. I just can't believe how awesome this community is.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you guys who organized the pre-party and the charity stuff, to the couple from Long Beach, and to giventofly34. You guys are saints. All I was able to do for someone is give them some extra rubber bands I had for their posters.
The show....
If he had packed up after Throw Your Arms Around Me, I would have been happy. Add to that Her Majesty, the UCSB poem (he mentioned my burrito place when I was at UCSB -- TA's), Ben Harper, the rope at the beginning, the Arlington Theatre and Eddie Vedder. I could just go on and on. It far surpassed my expectations. I will be back at LAI, ready to return some of this PJ karma!

you are so very welcome!
i was so excited to be able to help you guys out!
knowing that it was her first show made it even more special!
i had a great time at the pre-party - thanks to everyone who made it happen. the show was beyond amazing...i am still giddy over seeing ed from so close (we were sitting right where he climbed down the rope - he was about 3 feet away from us....what an incredible way to start the show)
i'm on a quick break, so i don have more time to type.....but im looking forward to seeing some of you saturday night!Fill the air up with love...0 -
Great show Ed kicked A…….
Throw you’re arms around me live and acoustic was my favorite.
I have always wanted to hear that live and acoustic.
My only gripe is the DAM Security F…s
They kept going back and forth getting in the way almost like prison or something….
On security guy was kneeling down in the walk way trying to catch people with cameras.
I looked at him like give me a break man; personally I left my phone a respected Ed’s wishes not to take pics etc….
I have to say the Santa Cruz security was really cool.
Thank you TEN CLUB for great seats you guys are the BEST....
But all and all Ed did really good, seemed to be really relaxed and
On top of his game.0 -
oh yea there was the guy who was tackled by security when he tried to give ed a cigarette....wtg genius0

the guy was actually shocked when security dragged him away....i thought for sure i was about to hear "don't tase me bro!"
and from at least where i was i didn't think the crowd shouting was all that bad....especially after ed told them to shut the fuck up!!0 -
oh i'm drawing a blank....last night ed told a story about meeting with some 12 year old kids earlier in the day and he said he was on his best behavior and the kids were great....just as was wrapping up with them one kid raised his hand asked if ed had ever heard of a band....and i can't remember the name!!!!!

Smut peddlars. There was a lady who kept yelling "Smut peddlars!" over and over again after that. She kept wanting everyone to know that she knew that band. We get it. You've heard of them. Here are some shots from last night. It was hard to take shots with ushers breathing down your neck, and with a huge headbanger sitting directly in front of you.
