Do you wear a face covering when going out in public during the COVID-19 pandemic?

If anyone else has gotten shit for wearing a mask, what do those individuals say?
If someone did that, I wouldn't give them the time of day.
Yeah but what does the troll say to someone being responsible?  I haven’t had anyone make a comment to me yet, but I see several here in Milwaukee and Madison not wearing them.

I guess to a non-mask wearing troll if they said something to me I would just shake my head and get away from them quickly.  Pretty much the same thing I do in any case where I run into someone doing something stupid.
I’d tell them to stfu and step back from me with their COVID breath.  I’m not kidding, fuck them.

I don't, but that's because of where I live. We've been very lucky in the west of Ireland that cases have been very low. My wife is an ICU nurse so I'm acutely aware of the situation. Dublin and Cork got hit the hardest, but in Galway, the ICU's never got overwhelmed. The country shut down very early and people did a good job of staying home and distancing when out shopping. I live in a low population density area, and so far the west of Ireland has seen very few deaths. There was a five phase plan for reopening, but that has been pushed forward due to the flattening of cases. Hopefully it doesn't spike when the country fully reopens this Monday.

No, well I did the other day to write an exam.  The virus doesn't seem well spread here.  We had a month with no new cases, then a single last last week.   It seems the odds of running into it are slim, but if those numbers climbed I think I would.

So do you wash your facemask after every use?

Cloth masks go in the laundry with your clothes.
I have multiple masks that I rotate on a daily basis.
One a day then into the laundry
    Simple.

Yes. And on days I am in the office everything goes in the wash first thing when I get home.

I hear you on this, Zod - it feels pretty safe, being out and about. However, our reopening is going really well so far and I definitely don’t want us to screw it up. If wearing masks allows us to continue to keep restaurants, stores, gyms, schools, etc open while keeping the cases down, then I’m going to wear a mask while I’m out.

That’s what I don’t get.  Why so many don’t wear masks around others as the US is trying to regain it’s economy.  If you can’t be motivated by fear out of more death, then think about it financially.  The more this spreads again, the chance of stay at home orders coming back, because the hospitals are overrun again.  That’s a big motivation why I wear one at work.  I get others infected, while asymptomatic, my company could be forced to shut down for a period of time.  Then I’m the asshole that screwed over the others who desperately need their income.  I have colleagues who wear masks everywhere else, but not at work for politics.  I honestly could give a shit about politics, if it’s not protecting lives then it’s about keeping the company going.  You can’t have an economy without healthy employees.

I do when I am in a store or close to other people. If on a walk with the dog or on a bike ride I do not wear one but move to the other side of the road, if possible, to avoid other people.

Also I golf a lot. So we're required to wear one when checking into the pro shop and going inside. But after that nobody really wears one on the course. I feel weird about that but you can pretty easily social distance on a golf course. Also up until recently we were not permitted to have more than one person in the cart. That rule was lifted but I still opt for my own cart just to be safe.

I fucking hate masks, especially as the weather continues to get more humid. I am having a hard time to find one that fits properly.

The other thing is---how often are you washing yours? After every use? I'm bad at that.

Also I should add that I work from home now and I'm rarely around people other than immediate family (except on the golf course).

I love the sponge in the hole and never having to pull the pin.  I don't care what happens in the future, but I'm never pulling a pin again.

    Does that work?

If you're wearing a mask for a total of 5 to 20 minutes in a store or picking up food, do you wash it when you get home? Or do you only wash after wearing it for prolonged period of times?

I'm not sure how well that works, but we have a "hamper" where we put our worn masks to throw in with our laundry each week.

Pretty much.  We bought several fabric masks online, to where we can each have one a day for the week.
