Wonder if Texas will be getting large concerts again this year too. 50% at a stadium is still over double an arena show.0 -

Yup, just everyday exposure to more cleaning products being around the house because of covid. Because, you know, when mom and dad bring home more cleaning products, it’s gonna happen that folks are going to gargle with bleach, put it in their food and/or wash their bodies with it. Buh, buh, buh Team Trump Treason said it was okay or well, I just figured.

A good article from the NYT about BC's excellent Dr. Bonnie Henry, who has shepherded us through what could have been a disastrous covid outbreak - we border Washington state, have a lot of travelers from Asian countries, and in early March had a dental conference that led to 87 cases and could have been a "super spreader" event - with her calm, skilled leadership. "Be kind, be calm, be safe".
The Top Doctor Who Aced the Coronavirus Test
Dr. Bonnie Henry kept the disease in check in British Columbia without harsh enforcement methods. Now, she is leading the way out of lockdown.
That Tuesday in March was the day Bonnie Henry had been preparing for her whole life.
Overnight, 83 people had tested positive for the novel coronavirus and three more had died. The pandemic had officially broken out in British Columbia.
Standing inside the provincial legislature’s press gallery, the preternaturally calm top doctor of Canada’s westernmost province declared a public health emergency. Under her orders and recommendations, schools closed, bars shuttered and social distancing measures were put in place.
“It seemed so surreal,” she said. “I felt like someone was standing on my chest.”
That day, March 17, Dr. Henry ended her presentation with a line that would become her trademark, and a mantra for many Canadians struggling to cope under a lockdown. It has since been hung in windows, painted on streets, printed on T-shirts, stitched on shoes, folded into songs and stamped on bracelets.
“This is our time to be kind,” she said in her slow and low-pitched voice that many call comforting, “to be calm and to be safe.”
In the next few months, Dr. Henry would prove to be one of the most effective public health officials in the world, with lessons for nations struggling to emerge from lockdowns.

I think the obvious recipe for success and reopening is to do a better job of protecting our sick and older population. If we did that from the start in NA and Italy/Spain we would have had no wheres near the deaths we did. 81% of the deaths in Canada as of mid May came from people in LTC. We failed them sadly. Yes this virus can affect everyone but we have enough info out there now that as a child or healthy adult the chances of you dying or even being put in the ICU is slim to none.0

Here in NZ we've smashed it. 0 active cases and save borders we go back to normal in three hours. The vast majority have done so well and apparently the economy is in a wee bit better shape than first feared. Of course there will be the odd case to pop up, hopefully not from the Avatar crew or the protests, but that risk should hopefully only happen when borders open up. The government is far from perfect, just like any government, but on dealing with this particular issue, Jacinda Ardern and Ashley Bloomfield have been outstanding and Ardern a leader we can be very proud of. Wishing everyone (and ourselves still) the very best of luck in getting and keeping cases down and an effective vaccine quickly.Stars are suns to other people.

Very interesting. Sounds like the main thing that the mass hysteria crowd has been yelling about isn't true...
